    • RE: Bread shop / Bakery

There's a bakery at Toa Payoh that sells the most amazing chiffon cakes.. Can't remember the name, but it's situated at the hub! Do take into consideration that confectionaries and bakeries typically use sub-standard ingredients and only processed white bread as it tastes better, but ain't so good for your body. I very much prefer to bake my own bread.. And the kids enjoy helping too!

The New Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day really makes home baking much easier. And marks the end of experimenting and inedible results.. Thank God. The kids can't thank me enough for stopping the experiments, so they're pretty thankful to this cookbook too!

    • RE: Depressed - Husband driving Taxi

Yep, I have heard of many families pulling through even with the sole breadwinner as a taxi driver. It can be done. Why not suggest for him to split his shifts? He can drive night shifts for maybe 3 days where the fares are doubled. Especially on weekends, there is a constant (and I mean constant) demand for taxis along the clubbing districts of clarke quay, boat quay, river valley, etc.

    • RE: This Mother's Day

      ChiefKiasu:
This Mother's Day, let us not indulge ourselves in thinking about what we deserve as parents who have made so much sacrifices for our children.

Let us instead reflect on what our own mothers have done for us. The things we loved about our mothers. The things we hated about our mothers, because we were too young to understand the meaning of their actions. The things that make us ashamed now when we think about how we behaved to our mothers because of this misunderstanding.

Let me share one such personal experience http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/my-mother-hated-pets.

      I missed my mother.
Beautifully written story. I do enjoy your prose. Amen to that - reflecting on what our mothers have done for us. And it is this exact appreciation of our mothers that propels us to be the best mothers we can ever hope to be for our own children. 🙂

    • RE: Timetable for kids??? When is it most appropriate??..

From K1, my nephew has had a time table. We take it as practice for Primary school. Basically, just plot out everything including meal times and reading times!

    • RE: Which Country Suitable For Young Children?

Thailand is affordable, fun, and has tons of yummy food! Lots of cheap shopping too… I’m sure kids will enjoy buying toys and looking at all the live animals at the chaktuchak market.

    • RE: Crazy for bags!

I’m a compulsive shoe-and-bag shopper too! Qoo10 has lots of cheap, pretty bags! (although the quality leaves much to be desired…) but at the price, who can complain?

Branded bag addiction is a whole other story, though. That particular addiction is giving my wallet grief. Haha.

    • RE: Is it good to introduce comics to a preschooler?

I don't think there is any harm in introducing comic books to your child. Comic book giants like Marvel and DC introduce kids to multiple universes of fantasy.. Their universes are really too vast to be fully explored, and I believe this encourages imagination. I also like the recurring theme where good always trumps evil in the end. Do take note that there is some violence and sexualized content in such comics, i.e. the female characters are often wearing very little, so it really depends on the age of your child and what you're comfortable exposing him to. Alternatively, you can start him off on milder comics like Calvin & Hobbes and Baby Blues.

Graphic novels like Captain Underpants are really cute, too! Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets is a great graphic novel with cute illustrations and a humorous story. http://www.noqstore.asia/product/Captai ... 545599320/

Serangoon Gardens estate, Chomp Chomp! There is a stall with every flavour of bean curd imaginable. Serving size is small, so you can try many flavours. Yum.

At home to spend more time with my family, hamsters & KSP Forum.

Wow, your hamsters 真的有福气! Do you train them to do tricks?

      They are beyond \"hope\".
All they do is eat, drink, pee, poo, sleep & run the wheel.
When I talk to them, they show me a face begging for more sunflower seeds.

After today, I will be back to office next week.
I hope I can have some quality ME time, though a lot of activities being lined up [/quote]Aww, they sound really cute. Do they look anything like the adorable hamsters online?? 🙂
