NTU is known for its integration with the research faculty, there are definitely more research-oriented opportunities.
Can someone explain the difference in these two courses:
NTU-Civil Engineering
NUS-Civil Engineeting
I heard that NTU is more practical orientated whereas NUS is more theory based? -

Varies so much on the CCA you join and the activities you choose to participate in. It is largely true that the culture is competitive, but as a former principal once said... 'stop competing, start excelling'. If you join RI, your best bet is to look inwards and use the opportunities to figure out what your passions, strengths and weaknesses are. Anecdotally, those who choose to compete with others in terms of grades and achievements never got very far
Hi all,
I am a sec 4 student keen to know more about different JCs. Can anyone share about the school culture and environment in RI? Thx! -
RE: Internship
Can consider glints.sg
Great place to hunt for up and coming internships with corporates and startups alike -

Perhaps memorising the content is not the direction ur child should take. Explore different methods?help... my dd is slow with memorizing subject and taking combined humanities
does anyone know where to get model answers for SS and E Geo to the various topics so that she can cut short the process ? too close to o level now so no time to go tuition, got limited time slots too... intends to self-study :?: -

Interestingly, the question scope (generally) is getting narrower, making the questions more niche and students might find it more difficult to conjure up arguments and examples to substantiate their stand. GP is getting more difficult to score!2016 GP A-Level Paper
1. ‘Any adaptation of a novel for film, television or the theatre is never as effective as the original.’
2. Assess the view that traditional buildings have no future in your society.
3. ‘Longer life expectancy creates more problems than benefits.’ Discuss.
4. Considering the money involved, should developing countries be allowed to host major sporting events?
5. ‘Human need, rather than profit, should always be the main concern of scientific research.’ Discuss.
6. ‘Countries experiencing conflict should be left to sort out their own problems.’ How far do you agree?
7. How far has modern technology made it unnecessary for individuals to possess mathematical skills?
8. ‘People who do the most worthwhile jobs rarely receive the best financial rewards.’ To what extent is this true of your society?
9. Evaluate the claim that equality of opportunity for females is desirable, but unrealistic, goal.
10. Assess the view that most natural disasters are the result of human activity.
11. Is competition always desireable?
12. ‘Everyone has an opinion, but not everyone’s opinion is of equal value.’ What is your view?
A fairly broad paper that focuses on the format prior to 2003. There are some questions with topics that are regularly discussed in schools, like Science, Environment, Media, Government & Politics, but the emphasis is on hybrid discussion and evaluation.
Question #3, 5, 6 and 9 are common questions. Their manifestations are not that varied. Any hardworking student who has eye-balled several dozen questions would have come across such questions quite regularly.
Paper 2 was on the topic of Tourism. Very doable for many students.
For Student Reference Only. All rights belong to Source. I own no rights to the above question set. -
RE: H2 Geog Past A level papers
slmkhoo:
Does anyone know how I can get hold of actual past A level papers for H2 Geog? I've just found out that there is no 10-year-series for Geog. I don't want past JC papers, but the actual A level papers for recent years, especially the data response questions. Can anyone help? Thanks!
You are likely better off drilling on the past JC papers' DRQs because they are more challenging and have \"model answers\" prepared by the respective JCs. In comparison, past year A Level DRQs are a ton easier (there will not be significant ROI drilling on them) and there are no recognised \"model answers\" provided by the examiners on these DRQs - often leaving the student clueless on whether he/she got it right on the nail or off the target board entirely. -
RE: DSA 2011
I feel it is important to cultivate the right attitude in the student. So what if you get into the top schools? You have a low PSLE score, it shows that you are not serious. As parents, it is only right to show to your child that we MUST put in full effort in whatever you do.
Moreover, the reason/rationale behind the implementation of the DSA system is to avoid having cases such as students accidentally flopping their PSLE when they actually have great potential and have been doing well in their previous examinations. I strongly believe that one should not abuse the system, thinking that as long as I prepare well for DSA, I can FORGET about the PSLE. That attidude is very bad to have, imo.
Furthermore as many have pointed out above. PSLE score is still very much applicable in secondary school life. I found out that in my nephew’s school (RI), there are certain advanced science/maths programme and even the creative arts programme (if I am not mistaken) require a minimum PSLE score.
Just an appeal to all students out there, maintain a good attitude and find out how well you stand among the entire cohort! It is a meaningful full stop to your primary school journey! -
RE: ADVICE FOR MY BOY
hi i think it is best that you consult the principal of that school you want your child to enrol in. maybe the principal could offer better solutions
of course, tuition and enrichment should not be neglected, it is always better to have a headstart. maybe you can try out krtc@marine parade? they are quite experienced in dealing with such cases. they might be able to offer you some opinion on your child's difficult position
