At times i ponder why then send to a religious affiliated school and not others? There would be better chances for folks keen in it instead.

i guess it depends what is the criteria that is the pulling factor or push factor. if you look at the primary schools with affiliation to secondary school, there is only a couple of them that is not linked with a religion. selection of school would also be a decision considering many other factors.

its ok we are not christians and I shifted to get my girl into the school for dragon yr but you need to be able to accept that they will learn to sing some songs that will be seen as linked to the religion in school. My girl is already in P4 this year.
thank you for your response! makes me feel a little better šŸ™‚

Hi i am considering PLMGS as one of the option for my girl who will register for P1 in 2024. i do have a concern that in our family myself and my husband are free thinkers, and her grandparents are buddhists. i personally would not influence or mind her own religion selection. i would just like to understand from existing parents for the culture of PLMGS, on the view of children and the parents who are not Christians. is it ok if the child maintains her own stand if she is not drawn to the religion?

my kid is 2018 and will register for P1 in 2024. my husband is a GRL for many years, RC chairman and in CCC.

i just called St Nicks this morning, and was told by the office that they will no longer accept parent volunteers in phase 2b. only GRL and church recommendation. this leaves me in a rut now as we have not yet moved. Even if we start house hunting now, when we move and reapply for GRL in the new zone, will it be considered as be less than "two continuous years"?

    • RE: [Geylang] Primary Schools

rHi am looking at Geylang Methodist, and see that the phase 2b has very few applicants. https://sgschooling.com/school/geylang-methodist.html i wonder what is the reason? is it considered an above average school? if the application is low, do the school accept parents applying for PV bt staying outside of 2km then? i stay in the east but outside of 2km. i know some popular schools will not accept PV outside of 2 or even 1km.

can i ask, is it true that PLMGS only select christian parents for PV? has anyone heard of a change of ruling for GRL phase 2b to be within 2km of GRL residential address but not restricted to electoral boundaries?

and if my kid gets in, she is not christian, would it be an issue in terms of getting frowned upon or pressurized? if she eventually choose christianity, we will not object. it is just that we do not want her to be alienated or pressurized.

i am considering PLMGS for my girl in 2024, under phase 2b for GRL. i wish to ask, if my family is not christian family, does it affect a lot? just want to know the culture, if non christian students are frowned upon, or how strict are the christian studies or prayers? i do not mind if she reads the bible etc, and make her own religion decision. just dont want her to feel alienated if she doesnt make that choice.

just like to portray my situation here and see if it makes sense. my girl is born 2018 and would go for P1 registration in 2024. both me and my husband are GRL, but only my husband is in RC so only his GRL status should qualify. We are in Aljunied GRC, and looking at St Nics, which means we need to move.

my intention was to apply for PV, which would open for 2018 kids somewhere in Sep 2022. which means i need to stay within one km by then (St Nics dont accept PV outside of 1km residence, from my understanding.) initially i was thinking if i am not accepted as a PV, then i would join the GRL over there instead. but then i realise this 2 yr requirement. does it means i need to move by May 2022, compare to PV i only need to move around Sep 2022?

if my husband served as GRL in Aljunied GRC for many years, move to say, Marymount SMC and become EM there but less than two years, would they give the recommendation letter base on accumulative period over two GRC/SMC? or is it subjective to the MP/PA advisor? my husband term is only ending in jan 2023, so we prefer not to prematurely terminate the term as he has his projects he want to see through. putting aside the admin timing, quota etc, is it subjective thing if he has only one year as GRL in the residence GRC (AMK or Marymount) but many years in another GRC (Aljunied GRC)
anyone to help advice please? šŸ™‚
