Hi another advice for those parents with daughters,

The number of GEPPer girls is only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the entire GEPPer cohort. Thus most co-ed GEP Class will only have about 2 to 5 girls to each class.

If your daughter is from a girl school, it might be a big shock, and GEPPer boys are normally very vocal and loud.

A big big consideration to consider šŸ™‚

The boys really outnumber the girls so drastically?

Hmm...wonder why...I tot girls were supposed to develop faster academically till about age 12 or 13 or something?

Would math ability count for the difference (boys are supposed to be better at math) - but wouldn't that be made up for by English ability? (where girls should excel)....would make for an interesting discussion

Many parents in the past also asked this question, and the whole world knows by statistics that girls perform much better academically than boys, including IQ tests. If you look at the top 10 20 secondary schools in Singapore, majority are Girls school.

I am not saying that boys are not good, only the good ones are much less in numbers šŸ˜‚

But \"policy\" in GE Branch is such that only 1/4 to 1/3 girls is admitted to GEP, this has been the case ever since the program started.

So all girls out there if you are not selected, please don't think that you are in anyway less superior šŸ˜„

The above is my personal opinion, please don't quote me ok? wait MOE come knock at my door :siam:
Nah... girls only good because they put in more time on study.. they mature earlier than boys.
      boys... play too much.

When at upper secondary and uni... men are much better than women...

you try ask a woman to do programming... she will ask her boyfriend to do for her. Ok... my time the women are like that. Maybe now smarter...

Geez, seems like we are the only ones who did nothing at all to prepare for today's tests, not even doing the regular papers.

      you are not alone... šŸ˜‚

My dd school we so far only received grades orally. Hard copy not returned yet.

Science grades are not yet announced too..

My DD got distinction in Science.

I think to use the result for dsa, need to get high distinction.
Yes, she got high distinction.

I did not know there is two category (distinction and high distinction). Sorry about that.

My DD's class - more than 10 pupils got high distinction. My gut feeling is that it will not help on its own as so many pupils can get high distinction in a neighbourhood school itself. May be it will help if the pupils have some other extra certificates (other subjects high distinction as well, etc...etc....). Ok lah...Something is better than nothing I guess. I know for sure that my DD cannot make it for English.
Your DD's school must be a very good school.
      My DS's school, only 1 HD and 2 D.

I think round 2 is not only about English, Math or Science. They will be testing the kids on General Ability but I do not understand why is General Ability divided into two days.

\"The GAT is a standardized assessment of an applicant's general reasoning ability, and it measures learning capacity, observational skills and problem solving ability. It provides an objective measure that is free from language and cultural bias. All the information needed to respond to each question is presented within the test item itself. Clear instructions will be given to ensure that applicants understand how to attempt the test.

The GAT is an abilities test, and it tells whether a student has strong underlying mental capabilities. This is in contrast to achievement tests which are subject based, and that assess a student's learned skills and knowledge. Abilities tests and achievement tests complement each other, and shed light on different aspects of a student's capabilities. When used together, they provide a good overall assessment of the quality of an applicant.\"

If I remember correctly, someone mentioned to me that in round 2, not all the questions are important to answer under the time constraint but no one knows which are the ones so preparation is pointless. Typically most cannot finish the papers but that does not mean anything too.

There were those who completed all questions, came out looking super confident but did not get through the selection and there are those who did partial paper and were selected.

So best is eat well, sleep well, don't fall sick and go for the tests, that is the BEST preparation you can give your child.

Proven method and no need to spend extra money but maybe extra love and care for your child's well-being!

DS2 came home yesterday with the news. I thought he didn't make it cos when I first read this thread, many already got the news much earlier on.

Now that he got into 2nd round, I back here gathering advice.
What's abilities tests? Are they tested on P3 Maths/English or beyond? Dear me, I don't know where to start. 🤷
      :congrats:
Need not do anything... if any... just remember to send them to the test center on time.
