snow123, i feel that it’s not a good idea to send your son to express for that reasoning. IP curriculum is intended to prepare students for IB. Easier for him to move from IP to take o levels should he want to, as compared to the other way round.

"- understand from the principle that the track record of good results acheive for IB & O level, can we be ‘assure’ that the students will be well taken care of and well prepared for O level & IB." the school has its ways to assure good results in IB. i hesitate to comment for o levels

The uniformed group CCA typically only takes up 1 day of the week. Great to teach leadership skills and discipline (or musical ability in the symphonic band).

My cca mates who were in express, had to step down from their leadership positions about halfway into sec 4. other than that, they juggled pretty much as well as the ip kids.

It’s not a must for your son to enter the school as an independent learner, but the 6 years is a long time to shape the character of boys in their formative years. this is something that has to be learnt at some point in time, wherever he goes.

    • RE: * Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACSI) - IBDP

      cj7:
i am a sec 4 student this year. i am wondering if it is possible to enter ACSI IBDP with my olevel results? if yes wld it be a great change from the olevels syllabus? and how high are the chances of me getting into acsi.(eg what results im expected to get)

p.s. in comparison , which schools offers a better ib programme?? hwa chong , acsi or others(pls specify)?
Aiyo why must necro and hijack an old post...
      I gradded from ACS(Indep) IB.

When most people say hwa chong they refer to HCJC aka HCI which doesn't offer IB. So I'm assuming you mean hwa chong international HCIS.

in singapore, acs(I) has the best ib programme for a normal farmer/mugger student. if you're really into a visual or performing art then possibly sota.

A level is already a great change from O lvl syllabus my dear, so I think there won't be much shock OTHER THAN if you didn't take english lit then mentally prepare yourself - english A1 at ib is not a walk in the park.

Sure it's possible to get in with o level results, but i also dunno you're faring in sec school (no mention of school, average). Most recently I've heard is L1R5 with bonus of 5pts. Hope you've been active in your cca as well.

      hope this helps

    • RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)

      Hi anxiousmom123, I’m a former student.

While there are means for students on the express track to switch to IP, my friends that did so found it unreasonably challenging.

If your ds goes through the O level (express) track, he will have to apply back to ACS (Indep) through the JAE. Unless any changes are made to the system, there will be no affiliation, meaning no -2 points.

On the bright side, ACS(I) Express is affiliated to ACJC.

Also, if the school values the sports cca of an express student, he may find it easier to come back.
