My child also has the option to choose either NA or Express. As I know, there are only 1 or 2 NA & NT classes and 5-6 Express classes in most secondary schools, and if we choose a academically strong secondary school, we should know the disparity between express and Normal is wide. I am concern about the attitude of the P, the teachers and the express students towards this group of Normal minorities. Am I thinking too much? Haha…

thanks bishanmum, i am within 1km, just that i happen to be at the boundary cut off, my hse is not in the sch grc , n the rc belongs to the same grc as the sch, while i am not in the same grc as them, and thus i am only an associate EM, i wonder would i always be an assocaite as i m diff grc address....any rc member here can help me?[/quote]If its not too late and you have the means and time, being a PV in the school would probably be a better bet. -
RE: All About Active Community Leaders
I think to put it simply. If you are registering for a school using the RC route, the places are still allocated based on distance priority. For this reason, the RC you serve and the school you are targeting should be in the same GRC and you need to reside hopefully within 1km of the school of your choice too. If the school is a popular school and you are staying outside 2km (even in the same GRC), chances are you will not even get the chance to ballot.
Agent66, am I right? -
RE: 2008 P1 Registration Exercise for 2009 In-Take
Hi Parents…
going for P1 2C supplementary registration. Understand that this phase also go by distance priority. However, have heard from someone I know that it could be on 1st-come-1st-serve basis. He registered in 2005 though. He mentioned that the school he went to register for phase 2C suppl., did not want to go through balloting, so once the vacancies are filled, the principal do not accept any more applications. He’s outside 2km but he got in as he went to register early.
I really can’t verify how much truth in there, but guess better to register early if possible. -

Yes...for those who are committed to regular PV work like yourself, you'll need to be committed for the 40 weeks (i.e. 1 year, 10 weeks per term for 4 terms). For your case, you'll have a shortfall of an hour due to the public holiday, so you'd better start to ask for ad hoc work to cover it. I know of someone who has to complete 80 hours of PV work (of traffic warden duties), twice a week in the early morning, so she can't afford to miss a single session, and also has to do ad hoc work too to cover those \"shortfalls\" due to public holidays.Bishan_mum, towei,
Thanks for your advise
Actually I wanted to do ad hoc to reach 40 hours faster. But the person in charge at the school said that since we committed to 1 hour a week, we must finish the 40 weeks. Even if we do ad hoc and completed 40 hours, we still have to do those 40 hours of recess duty we committed.
But I just found out there is one public holiday that falls on Wednesday on which we need to do our duty. So I better call them to see if we can do more. -

Better to take up ad hoc voluntary work as well. Don't forget that there are also public holidays or other school holidays like marking day, etc.
RIGHTFULLY should be able to , but should there is any ad hoc perhaps you can offer your service .tamarind:
Hi all,
We are doing PV at West Grove, one hour a week of recess duty. So in order to complete 40 hours, we need to do 40 weeks.
My question is: Are we able to do 40 weeks ? After deducting the school holidays, are there 40 weeks of study before the cut off date ? -
RE: All About Church/Clan/Society Membership
Yes…I share Chief Kiasu’s views, drawing from my own P1 registration experience this year. Thus, I’ve given the same advice to my sis who will be registering in 2 years’ time, to go for PV instead, rather than clan membership even though I feel its relatively easier to get a clan membership (as long as you can get the 2 members’ recommendations), compared to PV applications.

RE: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System
Absolutely…I was flabbergasted and angry too. I am one of those within 1-2km who went down to AiTong too, but decided not to apply as didn’t want to take the 50:50 chance. Actually, there are at least 2 who have withdrawn their applications already, otherwise, it would have been 11.
AiTong is not a full government school, as such they do have some sort of autonomy over how the school is managed, is a reason why there is the Clan affiliation too. -
