Is it safe to put

MGS IP
NYGH IP
RGS IP

MGS IP only got 120 slots per cohort. Less DSA kids. Perhaps only 100 slots. I wonder if there are alot of AL4s kids registering for MGS IP this year too given the easy PSLE.

Also. NYGH got their affiliation intakes.

RGS seems safer bet with no affiliation.

My only worry is MGS full take up. Then my second and third choices may not materialise as probably filled up by other kids in the round of first choice.

You seems not to understand how the cop system works. With an al4, your girl can just submit the 1st choice and leave 2-6 slots blank tonight, tomorrow can go buy school uniform already, don't have to wait for allocation result. Hehehe..

If the COP is AL6, then you will probably be subject to balloting. There are slim possibilities that the COP may move up to AL5 (then no chance to get in), or down to AL7 (then will definitely get in). Risk assessment is very individual so it's really up to you.

But historically these type of top schools have never move in AL cop right? Maybe during t-score era it moves by +/-1 much easier.. Just a thought..

Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any AL4-6 cases who made very conscious decision NOT to go for any of the top schools and more importantly, why?

I personally know of one AL6 who's a foreigner and straight up chose a government IP school because of school fees. Another AL6 is worried because of the potential demanding environment that requires one to always be at the top, they aren't financially well off too and instantly think it's never in their league.

Define 'top school'? I heard my girl says her classmates with AL4D applying Dunman high as 1st choice.. not sure is that the final decision. year end I will know the answer.. haha..

Dear Parents!
I am hoping for your advice. My daughter has a score of 6D and her dream school is RGS. However, we had advised her (after reading the posts here) that she would be subjected to balloting for a spot.

Her current choices for submission of schools:

1) RGS
2) NYG
3) NJC
4) SCGC IP
5) Cedar IP
6) RVH

2nd,3rd and 4th was based on proximity. As a parent, I felt that she should place NYG as her first choice and had explained to her the practicality of attending a school closest to home. She understood but decided to still give RGS a shot.

Hence, I'd like to seek some advice from Parents on the odds of getting into NYG with her score because from reading the discussions from 2019 onwards, it seemed that her chances of getting into RGS is extremely low with a 6. Most importantly, I felt that I should try to gather as much information as possible in guiding her in choosing a school.

Congrats.. let her try since she is the one studying, not parents. I'm in the same situation too. Anyway, your 2-4 choices are quite safe..

Yep, thinking to go with Cedar O level as 3rd choice. I am just wondering does putting TJC as 1st instead of Cedar IP to ensure IP? looking for parents who had this kind of situation.

Also make sense if you really want ip buy I hope you are aware tjc will move to previous tampines jc for 4years before move back to tjc..

I also place cedar o track as my 3rd choice after cedar ip as 2nd..

Are there Cedarian parents whose children got AL8 and got into IP in the last 3 years being Singapore PR? Is it a safe bet to try with the first choice and second choice as TJC? Please advise.

Can try cedar as first choice follow by tjc as second, the third you have to play safe already..

No affiliation for IP tracks for most schools, but I think NYGH is a special case as it has an affiliated Pr school but no O level track. Not too sure how that affiliation works, but I think the affiliation COP is high. For schools with affiliated Pr schools, affiliations only applies to the O level track.

RGS and RI (and probably some other schools?) don't have an affiliated Pr school, and also don't have an O level track.

My girl got AL8D, no affiliation to any secondary school. SG citizen. much prefer IP than O level.

The list in order -
1. SCGS IP
2. Dunman IP
3. TJC IP
4. RV IP
5. Fairfield Methodist
6. CHIJ Toa Payoh

Question - Dunman High COP for 2023 was 8M. Provided the COP for 2024 doesn't change, my girl ( with AL8D, putting Dunman High as second choice), will still be considered before those who has AL8M and put Dunman as first choice?

Any reason didn't consider cedar girl ip? I have a niece from there and highly recommended to us..
