I am considering whether to transfer my boy from his full day preschool to St Hilda’s kindergarten. He is currently K1 and I realized that although he is having lots of fun in his preschool which emphasize on learn through play curriculum , in reality, he is behind in his reading and writing as the school is not academic driven. They do not even have language readers which i realize is important for K1 onwards. His teachers also feedback that his attention span is short during lesson time. That’s why, I am thinking of putting him in a more academic setting where he could focus on building a good foundation before going to primary 1 in 2 years time.

Could anyone please share with me whether the curriculum in St Hilda’s prepares the kids for primary 1? Are the teachers patient and what is the class ratio like? Also, do you send your kids for additional enrichment classes beside school? And most importantly, do your kids enjoy going to school since it’s quite academic driven?

My boy is also at Aroozoo in Nursery. I must say that I am rather impressed by the school’s efforts at their CNY celebration. Didn’t join in the celebration on Friday but my hubby told me about the mini stations which he saw when he dropped my boy off in the morning.

My boy has settled down very well after 3 weeks and looks forward to going to school every morning. I don’t recall him being so happy at his previous school. Am glad that he is happy in his new school. Think he likes the big space especially the big playground and cycle tracks.
