      Hi Blessedmommy

      Thank you for your reply.

I was told it was $1600 per month....so for 3mths it will be quite a big sum of money.

If it is $900 per term than I would think it is reasonable.

Was looking forward to sending my DS next year so when I heard it was 1.6k per mth, was a little discouraged.

Hope your DS has an enjoyable time boarding and walks away with memorable memories!!!
i really dun think its so exp. I remember clearly its 900 per term. In any case, you can always call the school to confirm:) I dun think i would have sent mine too if its 1.6k a mth  Boarding has made him a much more organised person, Im happy to see that 🙂 Im sure yours will enjoy too!

Any Y3 parents' whose DS boarding this year?

Would like to know what is the cost involved and if there are any subsidies?

      Is it compulsory?

Hi Sha, mine has started boarding. if i recall correctly its 900 per term, not sure if there are subsidies. In the letter addressed to parents late last yr, it was written that boarding is not compulsory but strongly recommended and if there are parents who are not signing up for boarding due to financial constraints, they can approach the school for subsidies.

Unfortunately, only one is boarding this term 😞 the younger one in term 2. I tell myself I have one less to nag at these 2 terms, not too bad! Haha...

So timely that ur ds1 boarded during psle timing n u can give all ur 'love' to ds2! R both boys in RI now?

I'd prefer it this way too. If two boys go boarding at the same time, you'll definitely miss them so much, as you'll feel their absence so much at home. Now, you can look at DS2 when you miss DS1 (term-1), and look at DS1 when you miss DS2 (term-2). Are they identical twins ?

Despite my overwhelming TLC, DS2 didn't make it to RI. He's in another boys' school nearby, and he absolutely enjoys every moment there.. 😄

The new term has begun, so has my nightmare! Haha... So far so good. Ds3 settling in well n enjoying every bit of school n making new frds. Similar to your ds2, it doesn't matter where they r as long as they enjoy their learning journey right? Sometimes its good not to put all eggs in one basket too lol ....in case I MIA again, wishing you and all rafflesian parents a great year ahead! To all year 1 parents, enjoy your new journey 🙂

Wow.. Your boys' Boarding is in Term-1 ? They will definitely love the place and enjoy the experience. Home will suddenly be quieter, especially if both your boys are in Boarding at the same time. But you will have more time to spend with your other 3 kids.. 😄

I recall when DS1 was in Boarding, I showered all my attention & 'tender loving care' on DS2, who was taking PSLE that year. When DS1's Boarding ended, DS2 felt so relieved that he could finally share my 'tender loving care' with his brother.. 😓 😆

      Firefly,

RI, HCI, SA and SM for my girl. Haha... Their school locations r all over except near my home!

Thank u for ur well wishes. I also feel that independent schools should be allowed some flexibility, but well ... mOE always has the final say! Yes hci is a great school too but the distance is a killer haha... But he is looking fwd so Im sure he will enjoy his school life.

Sounds like your DS had lots of fun. Which country did he go to? Wishing him all the best in his JC life too. Heard many of them will start developing interest in the opposite sex in y5! Haha...

DS went to an nearby Asian country and he absolutely loved it. Due to 'budget cut', the school doesn't encourage overseas trips to Europe and US (even if parents are able & willing to pay).

BGR.. Oh NO !! :scared: 😓

Haha ... I hear hear only! Hopefully mine won't! They have been in boys school all their lives except kindy !

Yes I heard about the budget cut. Its good to hear that he enjoyed himself. Mine r looking fwd too to gapsem! For now, mine is looking forward to check into Bishan Resort this Sunday! (Boarding) he he...

Does anyone know how the year3 class assigned?

I'm not sure too. In my boys classes, there r boys taking 8 and 9 subjects in same class. But they take the same humanity subject

Of course I remember you, blessedmommy. Yes, you've MIA for more than a year. I guess you must have been busy with your little ones.

The 2014 Year-1 mommies were friendly and chatty. I recall you shared how your twin boys' pillows were confiscated during the Orientation Camp, and how you had to run up & down the Hall to take photos on Investiture Day, as your boys were in different classes.

My boy will be in Year-5 next year. He has completed 2/3 of his education journey in RI. How time flies.. 😓
      [/quote]

Wow! Indeed time flies!! From a senior now back to bring a junior at JC side haha.... How was his gapsem?

Your memory is excellent!! Guess that's one of my last few messages in this chat before I MIA. This yr busy with another psle. My ds3 missed 1 point to join his brothers in RI. We tried to appeal, only to be told that this year MOE has informed all schools not to take in any appeals below cop, even sibling affiliation doesn't count. Sad... He was initially disappointed, but now has accepted n looking fwd to his new journey in HCI 🙂 as for me, I will have logistics nightmare handling 4 schools next ye :yikes:
