Must bring oranges? Though just submit 1 empty red packet can already? :celebrate:

What is the purpose of submitting one empty red packet? Are you hoping that someone would put some money inside? :siam:

If I remember correctly, the students will bring the mandarin oranges to a place in the neighbourhood one of the days to \"bai nian\".

I think the school was asking for empty red packets for donation...on their week 2 notification. It was a project by parentlink.

Is that the one u all are talking abt??

HUh?? red packet??? I thought they said, they encouraged children to bring oranges to their teachers only???

DS1 had checked with his classmates today (FT is on sick leave today).. think it's only for FTs.

Original text extracted from Week 3 Notifications - for everyone's easy reference (*credits to RMPS)

      \"[color=darkblue][i]E. CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
(Mrs Tan Khim Yong, HOD/Mother Tongue)
The school will be celebrating its Chinese New Year on Wednesday, 2 Feb 2011.

School will function from 7.30 am to 9.30 am. Necessary arrangements have been made for those taking the school bus. Kindly make the necessary arrangements if your child is not taking the school bus.
All pupils are encouraged to wear traditional costumes. Those not in traditional costumes are to be in their school uniforms.Jeans, T-shirt, spaghetti straps etc are not allowed to be worn in the school. The non Chinese pupils are also encouraged to wear their traditional costumes.
There will be no lessons for the day and pupils are encouraged to bring oranges to school to greet their teachers. \"

Out of curiosity... I wonder what will the FT do with the oranges? 39 students x 2 oranges - wow wow.. . The school will donate to old folks home?? hmnm.... :?

yeap! she's still very individualistic. Sometimes, i even wonder if she has got any friends in school

Oh come one! mommy!! I am sure she has lah.... I am sure there will be some same \"league\" with her and can click well. Dont worry lor.. šŸ˜„ she probably has a different personality at home.

DS1 is like that lor... I am always surprise by words that come out from his teachers and his classmates' parents... LOL

Will the teacher give parents their handphone numbers?
Both DS1 and DS2's FT has provided their mobile numbers. However, a point to note, is DS1's FT has never replied or return call so far. šŸ˜ž When in doubts, DS1 will have to go back to school the next day to check with friends OR his FT again. So far, no communication with DS1's FT.

And I must kowtow to DS2's FT. He committed to the parents that his mobile phone is on 24hrs - they can call ANYTIME! which this one, i personally think he actually set too high standard for himself and \"asking\" for trouble. If he meets those parents don't know \"auto\" .. kind, call him midnight.. he's gonna go crazy already!

But, I must say he is very responsive via email or call. So far so good šŸ™‚ but again, I don't call him everyday lor.. šŸ˜„

Now equally at 25% per quarter? The info I heard is 30/70 same as last year.

Where did you hear it from? The teachers? Is your source reliable? :scratchhead:

For P3 and P4 - there will be no CAs, but tropical tests to monitor the child's progress. SAs' weightage is 30/70. Not sure abt P1 and P2 though.. šŸ˜›

Titank, no need to get your son to queue for the school diary. The vendor says he will send the whole lot up to individual classes. He mentioned that they just arrived today! 😐

Good good good, I almost want to pass a private diary to my DS if the school diary still not yet in production!

Titank, no need to give your personal diary lah.. so heavy. a note book will be fine 35 cents - 40 cents each at any book store lor.. šŸ˜„

And I am still waiting for the Chinese Comp Exercise Books šŸ˜ž

Thank you for your contribution here. In fact, before you joined in, it was only the current P2 parents (P1 in 2010) here talking among ourselves. We had so much hoped that parents of higher levels RMPS students would join in and shed some light on the school, but alas, nobody came...

QMS, well said!!! :celebrate: Thank you! šŸ™‚

And I also hope that my experience will not deter parents coming forward to raise questions and share concerns. As one parents earlier on commented comparing ZPS parents group and RMPS parents group of KSP.com, the latter is more active and I hope it continues as it is and will remain the same. šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚
