Hi all,

My DD has just created a place in Crescent Girls, an excellent school with supportive principal and teachers. Due to travel consideration, we decided to transfer her to a school nearby.

All the very best to the lucky girl who gets to experience the Crescent journey!

      Hi,

Does anyone know of successful appeal to Cedar? Has anyone received appeal result or called up for interview by the school?

      TIA!
DD brought back the DSA School Preference Form today. We just logged in and made our selection final. Now I feel like the whole process is finally complete šŸ˜„

So if dd got CO from one school only so this Preference Form is not required right? Because my dd didn't receive any.

That's what I'm worried about too... My friend told me that my dd must send back the form or something by 27 Oct... But my dd did not receive the form, she asked her teacher but her teacher said that she did not receive anything and plus she only has one CO. :faint: But in the letter she received by the sec sch a few months back also indicated that her primary school would be giving her a consodilated list of all the schools that have given her CO or WL (which she only has one CO) Now I'm really worried... Can someone please tell me more about this form? Thank You! :xedfingers: šŸ™ :xedfingers: šŸ™
The information is as below

I think you may want to \"contact MOE Customer Service Centre at 6872 2220 for more information\".

Dear Blue Dolphin, agree with you. It is still untested. Very new programme to them. As per my threads above, wonder why St nicks still remain so secretive abt their cut off points.

No worries. My guess is St Nick is IP newbie and does not want to waddle into a PR nightmare with bad or unfounded information releases. They do have a strong reputation to protect and an equally strong alumni to provide support. Should be fine. Hope the dragon year effect does not overwhelm the increase in IP places (as reported in the Sunday Times), and maintain/lower COP across the IP schools.

Just have to wait for announcements. šŸ˜„

    • RE: PSLE 2012 - Science
I'm a P6 student that took PSLE this year.
My take on the question is that in all 3 surfaces there is frictional force acting on them. In selected websites, they mention about \"sliding friction\" and \"static friction\". Although this is not in the PSLE syllabus, consider the parallel example below:
Suppose a block is resting on a flat surface parallel to the ground. The block needs to overcome frictional force in order to move. If there is frictional force, the block cannot move.
Back to the question. If the block is not moving, that means it could not overcome the frictional force between the horizontal surface and the block. Hence goes to show that there is frictional force in all setups.
Do not get confused by other types of friction. Based on PSLE syllabus, I reason that the answer is A,B and C (Option 4)
      šŸ˜‰
Well reasoned by a P6 student. Impressive

I would think it should be around same as cedar, maybe a bit higher if more of their affiliated students with high t score choose to stay on.

If their express cut off is 249, then for ip it's ard cedar standard. Any points higher will be nygh or RGS Liao.

      I am not sure.
      Cedar IP to VJC
SNGS IP to unknown JC to be built just in time for 2013 batch.

      Cedar uses VJC IP programme
SNGS uses ...... (is it the same with the other two schools?) IP programme

There is an element of uncertainty in SNGS IP, which is not helped by opaque disclosure to concerned stakeholders....

    • RE: Is PSLE really needed in Singapore?

Yes, PSLE is really needed in Singapore.

I take the view that PSLE is a resource allocation exercise; given that there are finite number of schools (common resources) and that schools are resourced differently (in terms of quality of principals, teachers, programmes and facilities), there is a need to have an equitable and practical distribution system for these finite and common resources.

How we (as parents and students) value or attempt to value these resources ("good", "right", "branded") will impact the competition framework (in this case, PSLE).

Nonetheless, if we (parents and students) choose to focus on the negative aspect or have a "its the end" mindset, then any resource distribution system will fail to meet public expectation.

Pressure, stress, uncertainty? It is part and parcel of the real world and thus I view it as a process/rite of passage of growing up. We all should learn how to deal with them (pressure, stress and uncertainty) avoiding analysis paralysis.

      (3) Cup T - largest surface area

Why? I thoght that the round cup has larger exposed surface area. Please enlighten me.
Recall those cupcake wrappers? Once it \"open up\", the surface area is much larger than a round cup of similar diameter.

Or perhaps to think about curtains; when the curtain is \"unfolded\", it is about 1.5 times longer.
