lee_yl:I agree that there is nothing wrong with having an O level track. However on the MGS COP this year being higher than RGS, one other factor could be due to the small cohort of IP/IB in MGS (I think 2 classes) compared to RGS which accepted about 380 girls this year.Good morning, rains:
In view of the passionate discussion about Nyps's lower affiliation to NYGH, I am just wondering if the same parents who ask that the affiliation to the NYGH IP be abolished would also see that it's only fair if they insist that NYGH should have O level course and allow Nyps girls to be eligible for it with a CoP of 220 or 230 like SCGS and MGS?
Perhaps I would agree that all JCs should do away with affiliation from secondary schools since by the age of 16, teenagers should learn to fight their own battles. It will also give the slightly late bloomers another chance to prove their worth.
I personally think it's ok, nothing wrong with having an O'level track.
If we look at MGS, they have dual tracks and they continue to do very well, MGS IP/IB COP is higher than that of RGS this year! MGS has proven that having both tracks will not affect the performance of the school.

So GEP obtain 250 above get EESIS & where MS obtain 262 above to get EESIS? :? :?
Yes, that is the criteria set by MOE. The cut-offs are different annd yet, the students be they MS (non-foundation) or GEP, all sit for the same PSLE papers. -

Yes, I am aware of that. That's why I mentioned \"and they are eligible for EESIS\". Actually, GEP pupils also need to meet the EESIS cut-off score in order to be eligible, it is just that their cut-off point, as someone has posted here before, is 250. So, if a GEP pupil who has been given DSA confirmed offer by an Independent School for the IP course, and has accepted the offer, but obtained T-Score of 245 will not be eligible for EESIS.
Thank you for the clarification, Moontan.Blue-sky:

Those pupils, regardless mainstream or GEP, that accepted the DSA offer, and the schools that they accepted are one of the IS, and they are eligible for EESIS, then they can confirm today that they will be awarded EESIS, and do not have to wait until December.
Hi Moontan - I am afraid there is a little inaccuracy to your last point, \" regardless mainstream or Gep that accepted the DSA offer\" . This is only true for GEP who have been accepted under DSA. Mainstream students will still have to meet the cut-off score for the EESIS even if they have been accepted under the DSA. For example, if a mainstream student was accepted under DSA to an Independent school to do IP but his score is 255, he will not be eligible for the EESIS. But a GEP who got accepted under the same circumstances will get the EESIS. -

GEP promotion criteria is taken to mean they have completed the P6 GEP programme in school.

Sorry, I am not here to reply, because, I do not know the answer. I just have one question, my understanding is that geppers still have to be TOP ? % for their PSLE in order to get scholarship even though they may get DSA into RI or HCI right? In other words, if they got DSAed but scored poorly for their PSLE, for eg, only managed a 230, they will not get any scholarship.. Hope to get some reply from any kind mama....
Hi - I believe GEP students who are accepted into Independent schools (IS) and taking Integrated Programme will automatically qualify for the EESIS which pays part of the school fees ($2,400 pa) at the IS. Automatically means it is not subject to their T-scores. This applies to GEP students who are accepted via DSA as well as Sec1 school posting. -

Hello - Any parent/ child with experience in the Special Arts Programme (SAP)?
How does one apply to join? Is a portfolio needed? And how will joining SAP impact the A levels ie.. is this a subject which can replace a Humanities subject?
Thanks for the sharing!
Hi: Does anyone have more details about the Special Arts Programme (SAP)? TIA! -

RE: Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) [*IP]
Hi. I don't know the 2016 Y1 enrolment no but for 2014 it was around 400.
Hi gardenia64: Usually the school would have allocated up to half of its possible enrollment to DSA applicants eg 200 (out of the 400 places), so the remaining places will be made available for S1 posting applicants. That said, I am not sure if this trend continues for the 2016 Yr1 enrollment.
Why don't continue the trend ?
Because RGS Secondary shifting to braddell site in a few more years soon, may cut down Sec 1 intake enrollment ?
Hi: No, I did not mean that. What I meant to say was that the number of DSA students who are offered and accepted (the offer) could vary from year to year. As a result, the number of places left for S1 posting is likely to vary too although it is safe to say that it will be around 200+/- for Yr 1 in 2016. That was what I heard during the Principal's talk this year. -

Dear all,
May I know how many students will enroll at Rgs 2016 ? Although every school is the good school, I still prefer my girl to have a chance for studying at Rgs.
