• RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

      Hi,

Would like to get some advice. I am really confused 😞

Within 2km from my address, I only have Ai Tong which has a very competitive balloting history. Even tho I stay within 1 km to Ai Tong, I am not intending to try balloting.

All other schools are out of the 2 km radius. I am looking potentially at Marymount convent for my girl. I hv 3 girls so am ok to go for a all girls school. I have heard many good reviews 're marymount but my only worry is that there is no affiliation to a secondary school ie no safety net.

Other school I am considering is CHIJ Toa Payoh is St. Nicholas but there again, the balloting history shows that it will be difficult getting into these schools esp I am out of the 2km distance with no PV or advantage.

Qn 1) should I still go for marymount convent under phase 3C or should I start looking at a school with sec affiliation ?

Qn2) or should I try for CHIJ Toa Payoh or St. Nicholas which both have affiliation to secondary school? What will be my chances of getting in ?

Any advice is greated appreciated ! Tks tks !

    • RE: 2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

      Hi,

I will be registering my girl for primary one this year. I am currently staying with my in-law. My husband IC reflects the same address as my in-laws however mine still reflects my parent’s place. For logistic purposes I would rather not change my address to my in-laws’ place.

In this case, when we register for her primary 1 registration this year, would she be following the father’s address or do we need to do a statutory declaration to prove that she is staying with her grandmother,? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Qn 2: are you affiliated to clan/religion under 2b?
No, not affiliated to any clans .
Also none of the IJ schools are affiliated to STC primary . Not even Kellock 😞
HI,

I am new to this site and I'm really stressed out with P1 registration for my first girl (born 2012).
Within my place, there's only 1 school (Ai Tong) that falls < 1 Km. There's nothing for 1-2km. To make things worst, both my husband and my primary schools are no longer around.

So I am basically stuck with Ai Tong, which is a very popular school. I understand even with P2C < 1km, balloting is needed. *STRESSED*

Should I just go for a school which is > 2km instead of wasting my chance on Ai Tong? If so, is there anything I look out for e.g. trend of school with no balloting in the past? TIA!

Wait, you and your husband school, no longer around is what school?

Less than 1km to Ai Tong but no other schools within 2km? Sounds like you are living around Windsor Park.

For girls, there's an easy option of no ballot not too far away in Toa Payoh / Marymount - if ballot is a concern for you, pick Marymount Convent.
Yes, i stay windsor park hill.
But even with Marymount Convent, its P2C >2km. Is that a good school?

Since I am gg to try P2C >2km, then what do you think of my chamces at St Margaret's Pri school?
