Mother tongue exemption for PSLE has to be submitted in March so you should aim to have the documentation by end of P5.

if the child is sitting for psle, then you would have to approach a private doctor as time is limited.
mother tongue exemption is based on case by case basis. I was really worried she won't be able to get it. I called MOE every 2 weeks to enquire on the status.

Hi, can I know where to call to check on the status? My son is in P6 this year and we submitted the application last November.

    • RE: All About ADHD : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

      Thanks for your reply.

Initially, my son only went for dyslexia assessment and the psychologist told me he has ADHD too.
So after the parent and teacher questionnaire and the psychologist report indicates my son has ADHD, it’s based on his assessment, right?

      Hi,

Besides a psychologist report which recommends for mother tongue exemption, do we need other supporting documents/reports? Is the report from the psychologist sufficient? TIA.

I’m not very sure…however, the teacher told me she has a student who took foundation cl. Psle he scored band 1 for foundation cl and the rest he scored As. Managed to get into express. I would think it also depends on the total actual marks. He must have done very well.

      Hi lurline,

Students who didn’t do well in all subject means they failed all or borderline passed the 3 subjects but failed MT?
My boy is also attending das and his classmate is also p2. Progress also slow. Can’t comprehend or do compo too due to reading and spelling difficulties too.
We wanted to apply for exemption but the school keep asking us to try until p5 when he can take foundation. I’m also feeling very helpless as I feel foundation MT is not the solution. My boy having to go thru p4 with all the stress and feeling inferior failing tests/exams and teachers maybe thinking they did not try hard enough, etc. I really can’t imagine the impact on them emotionally and mentally.
