RE: [Central] Primary Schools
What cikgoo says makes sense, and these 2 schools are rather similar in terms of education standards so some parents in P2C might just switch between either school if they are non-Christians so that balloting wouldn’t occur. This is unlike P2B where parents are either only Catholics or Christians so they would have to stick with either ACS or SJIJ, but P2B is typically a smaller group than P2C which is only dependent on distance.

Eagle-Ladybird:
Hi Eagle-Ladybird,
The actual stats for P2B :LOLMum:
hi pinetart,
so all 25 places are taken up by those living within 1 km (just nice - no balloting) even though there are 35 applicants?
< 1km : 24
1 - 2km : 3
> 2km : 8
So all within 1km got in. It will be balloting for 1 - 2km, 3 to 1 vacancy.
Does that mean the rest of the aplpicants i.e. 2 + 8 will move to P2C, automatically ?
This is not automatic. Rest of applicants must submit fresh application at Phase 2C if they wish to try again. -
RE: [Central] Primary Schools
Yes, I'm very surprised by the numbers too!!
Indeed, thank God for His grace and provisions!
Maybe we'll see each other around.
God bless and take care. -
RE: [Central] Primary Schools
Hi Goon,
No worries, 1-2km no need to ballot.
46 applicants for <1km
18 applicants for 1-2km
16 applicants for > 2km
64 spaces under phase 2B becoz 1 from Phase 2A2 dropped out last minute producing 1 more space. There were still movements within last half hour thus school had no chance of informing those >2km that there are no more vacancies. -

RE: 2011 P1 Registration Exercise for 2012 In-Take
janet_lee88:
Agree with janet_lee88. Better to go for those with affiliation. I'm also old gal of IJ TP and have nieces currently studying in Marymount. Both schools are okay. For IJ TP, there's affiliation to sec school and teachers there don't only focus on the top class so you can be sure your gal should be taken care of.
It depends if you believe in affiliation or not. I am a strong believer in having affiliated sec, which is why I registered my gal in IJ TP instead of son's school which has no affiliation.gksmummy:
hi everyone,
I'm also registering my eldest this year....
so excited but confused at the same time....
anyone can share if ij toa payoh better or marymount?
I'm an old gal of IJ TP...so naturally I would want her there. Principal is warm, caring and motherly. However, the teachers are rather ON. -

Flower Power:
Hi, just to keep all informed, last week I wrote to MOE to ask which constituency the schools (which I am interested of) would now belong given the electoral boundaries annoucement on 24/02/2011. A while ago, they replied me to say that they need some time to work out whether there are schools which are affected due to the electoral boundaries announced recently and will advise accordingly when they have the confirmation. So interested parties, please hang on there for more news. My hb who is the one serving as GRL is actually not worried at all as he is confident that things will work eventually. Give them some time.
Thanks, Flower Power! I hope MOE's consideration wouldn't be just one-sided, i.e., while there are schools that changed GRC, there are also GRLs affected by the change in GRCs. It's double whammy for some. Personally, I'm left with only Queenstown Primary and New Town Primary (with spaces left after Phase 2C supp) because of the change in GRC and no other school within 2 km in my new GRC, and I'm not allowed to change address/move house because I've been told that the RC membership status would change (from executive member to associate member which doesn't qualify as phase 2B).

Daddy

Wah.... u running for GE ah?

Hi timtim,
Sorry about that. I didn't realise that you've already checked with Elections Dept directly... Thanks for that.
Because of what ChannelnewsAsia said, I thought these electoral boundaries only apply at/after elections so got confused.
