Through close communication with the teachers. And when someday, my son stop shouting and screaming in the middle of the night. Shortly after that, I realized that teacher is no longer working there. Ha!

My children are attending Montessori, I like the teacher there, especially the philipino teacher that will always share with me how she handle my special boy when he was in N2, and he like her a lot. When he got into K1, there was a local teacher that always shout at him who don't know how to manage him, result of my ASD son having nightmare and shouting in the middle of the night. And few months later that teacher no longer teaching there( Lucky). Now is handle by Malay teacher and Chinese teacher from China, both able to handle my ASD son! And the philipino teacher is still there to teach my NT son. my purpose of sharing is, it is not the certificate and the nationality/ race that is important, pls pls also look into the teachers heart. Those who don't have cert might be able to stretch out good behavior support for ASD child.

Thanks for sharing. Yup after sometimes spent with my child, I somehow can tell from a person’s behavior that if that person is a special needs. The worst situation is parent in denial like the boy that I am helping now. The school teacher also can’t tell what is wrong with that child, because she is not experience in that area. Feel very sorry for that form teacher, but nothing can be done. Called AED, AED said unless the teacher approach her, else there is nothing can be done too.

Thanks for the info, I will call KKH to see if they can arrange. My son who is in EPIC is 5 yrs old now. There are total of 4 teachers suggested him to go OT, but due to time and cost, I always hold back.

Is KKH rehab that you mentioned for children below 7 or above 7? I am looking for OT that available on weekend, if possible. All OT are on weekday and cost $150-160 per hour..

KKH rehab is for all kids until up to 12 or 18? As long as they don't discharge you, you can attend.

KKH OT is just $40++. But its also conducted during weekday.

That is something new to me. My son being discharge because he is attending EPIC program. KKH said I can't have both.

hehe, actually that's a question that I have too, cos I forgot to ask the other time when I attended the open house.

But if there isnt such support, we will have to source for our own. KKH is one such source that I am keeping now, and I am also thinking that focus might change eventually from OT/SLT to maybe social skills or other things. Art therapy is something that I am keen to embark on next year as well.

But let's see.

Are you with KKH Rehab already? If not you can try to write to your KKH doctor, get him/her to refer you to KKH Rehab. I like KKH Rehab therapist. My son is attending OT and SLT at KKH Rehab now.

Yes it's private. There are about 5 kids in the group but all with different issues.

If you are very sure of the diagnosis of your child is ASD, go to epic center that focus on ASD. The lesson they cater to your child will be more suitable, and parents will be more understanding. Other special needs child might not be having similar problem, can understand why the other parent not able to accommodate. They don't understand. my personal experience and thoughts. Hope it help.
