Hi, Anyone knows how to join RI Music Elective Program (MEP) in Y1? My son received RI CO and intended to join MEP next year. Please advice. TIA.

      Hi Kiasurian,

      Sec4 RI student here.

I assume your son is in P6.

From my Y2 junior, I gather that there is a selection test for MEP. There is both a practical and theory test & a pen and paper assessment.

During the practical test you play your instrument for the teachers for evaluation. The pen and paper assessment follows a format close to a MEP paper but it is much simpler. Your son will need Grade 5 Theory and Grade 7 Practical.

      All the best in applying.
Hi ngl,

      Nice to see you. šŸ™‚
Eoy shld finish and results shld be out by term 4, week 6, right? Won't the teachers be looking at the EOY results before finalising the RA offers.

      Hi PiggyLalala,
Nice to see you too. šŸ˜„

During the talk, they only mentioned about MYPR but your logic makes sense.

If in term 3 already started the application process for RA, then I guess only those qualified with average 3.6 and respective 4.0 and top 15% for MYPR result have the chance to apply, right? Maybe EOY result is for another reference for final decision.
RI student here. Usually there are some exceptions to the 3.6 GPA rule, depending on how proficient you are in that subject. I know of someone who only got 3.4 in yr2 but still got into Math RA since he was quite good at it. EOY results just make sure you maintain your 85 percentile in the cohort and around 3.6 GPA.
