Hi all,
Personally, I have tutored my own younger aged cousins and children for a long period to realise that… the interest of the language has to be cultivated.
Reading has never been one of the favourite among the children, unless they are good at it and can read most of the words alongside with their parents’ help. More often, they shun it because they do not understand most of the storyline.
Learning lab, I have heard, place focus on the newspaper articles? That will only appeal to the primary 4-6 level of students. Let the little kids learn to write down their feelings for the day. Let little children learn the art of expressing through drawing and putting into words, their thoughts and feelings.
You can ask them to describe a cat or an animal they love. You can ask them to imagine the pet they would love to own. They can get really descriptive.
