I'm thinking if dd is not selected into the prog, she is still quite impressive to have gone through the 1st round. How can we then support this child who is perhaps an unpolished gem? She is not interested to attend any additional academic related classes outside school.

Let her read books from the gep recommended reading list, read current affairs mags, newspapers, do math olympiad/ onsponge books, or even join olympiad classes, not to compete, but to stimulate the mind. Science-wise, play with more science experiments.

My son took the 2nd round test. Im very proud he made it to second round, as he's always had very poor attention and is very playful. Don't think he'll pass but won't take up GEP even if he does. However I'm keen to stretch him. How are some of the ways we can stimulate his learning? He isn't particularly interested in many things except reading, reading, reading, playing, playing, playing. Of coz we ask him to do music+ sports but never really try stretch the cognitive side of things

Hmmm... Interesting thoughts. If he has selected himself into the list without any additional preparation, I would say take a second look at the GEP program. Otherwise you would be doing a disservice to him. \"Very poor attention and being playful\", has got nothing to do with the giftedness My DD will fit into the definition of \"very poor attention and is very playful\". We didn't know much about GEP, except for the name, till she got the yellow envelope from school. She was somewhere around 85% range in the exams till P3 EYA. My DD's class teacher in P3 was surprised that my DD got into GEP. Her grades in PSLE were not that great either, but still got admitted in RGS with ease. Her GEP years were not smooth sailing though, but she was very much inclined to work and study with higher ability students. She made good friends with many of them, which continues till date. GEP is not just ACADEMIC, the things you learn there, will be useful for the rest of the life. My two cents!

Hi is there help or programme conducted by the school for those who have difficulty catching up academically? I hear of some school with such.

Am staying in punggol. Really shock to see that the number of registrants exceeds the number of vacancies in 2c in whole punggol. Next year will really sweat…
