phtthp:i thought you have sourced all the info and posted to the individual school's discussion thread?difficult to get such info, from every primary school in SG.vampire:Does anyone know where I can obtain information on average PSLE score (exclude the GEP's classes) for each of the primary schools?
I was told Maha Bodi has an average of 230-240 points in 2009, same as RGPS. Can anyone help to validate that?
Thanks thanks!

RE: score 199 which secondary school
mummy so kiasu:
give you two choices :wanerbros2001:
It is wiser to place your child in a better school but NA stream rather than Express stream but lousy school. If the child ends up in an environment where it is not so good, you would have to worry about his/her safety daily. Heard there are gangs in certain schools
You will also worry that he might mixed with the wrong company due to peer pressure. At such age, environment is very important.
(1) good name school but can get in NA, may be got students who are proud, arrogant, perhaps must work extra hard to get promoted to express stream
(2) express stream whose cut off points meet the PSLE score of the students...all the students are around this 'low' score, plus plenty of NA and NT students....school spend lots of time in discipline management of the students and evidently there are gangs.
so which is a better choice ? safer environment more sure to sit for O levels in 5 years ? or express stream is a 'troublesome' school ?
so what if have to spend 5 years to get O levels instead of theoretically 4 years - half way through may be join gang liao, and never even reach the O level at all via express stream....express to join gang....
ok this is not to scare the parents but don't be blinded by pride of being in 'express' stream if it is a borderline express only -

*LOL* is surely a learning experience for Mdm Ho ChingFQW:
That certainly put the mirror firmly in front of us, hahaha.

Not quite yet. I wonder how much of these negative sentiments against the Chinese bus drivers arise from a sense of \"true blueness\". It's ok to treat people shabbily. So long as they are not true blue Singaporeans. That's what we are teaching our children now, right?
Me? I am angry with this episode. Once again SMRT management says it's a learning experience. They seem to be doing a lot of \"learning\" at the expense of commuters and workers. Whenever something goes horribly wrong, just chock it down to another \"learning experience\". Is this the culture at SMRT? Or is it at its majority shareholder, Temasek, that appoints SMRT's board? Or does it go higher to the people who appoint Temasek's board? Where is the chain of accountability so far as SMRT is concerned? Is there even one?
how much is she aware of what is happening at the operating entities level ? Does the Temasek board need to be involved at such 'low' level? all the CEOs hired for what and need some one to hold their hands ?
just my personal opinion that an army guy is not a good fit to run a commercial outfit providing a public service with shareholders as his boss. this is not running an army reporting only to Minister of Defence
One thing for sure - when u have different nationalities of drastic differences in background & culture doing the same job at the same place - you need very savvy HR people to communicate and balance the expectations in an internet linked world, you need to act fairly and to be seen to act fairly
same for SIA under an army guy...it has been under a great mess recently with all the cock-ups in IT etc etc..one and a half years liao, the system still *no word to describe* -

if the contract was in chinese, then surely the chinese drivers would be able to read clauses. they are provided with accomodation and transport everyday...it's ridiculous to compare with malaysians who have to ride motorbikes home after a long tiring day...根本不可以比.
just the same as some kiasuparents comparing school facilities, comparing children's grades and want to get better, and complaining about schools and teachers different from others
same mind set, different items
same attitude, different nationalities
the pot telling the kettle : why u so black ah ? -

the so-called 'bonus' is no bonus. it is contractual ex-gratia paymentWhat I don't understand...
Those who were repatriated were given their bonus (reported in 10pm News) and were bought winter clothings by SMRT. Buying them winter clothings may be out of kindness on SMRT part but to give them bonus? I mean they broke the country's law. For us Singaporeans, without breaking laws, when we leave any company by year end before bonus time, they will be forfeited.
I hope this strike sent a very strong signal to all companies with sleeping HR dept. I am very sure that SMRT is not the only one with a passive HR. -

surely there is a Chinese version of the contract! they won't sign blindly in English
some of the drivers may have poor comannd of English. They may not have understood clearly what they'd signed. Another possibility can also be ... not sure if SMRT management had done their part in explaining every rule and regulation, and law on the paper, before they sign off. -

do you seriously expect China Embassy in Singapore to inform them ?
so far, seem like China embassy had not educated her people. Otherwise, this SMRT strike incident won't have happened ! All along, our country had peace for many years. When was the last time we heard about an SMRT strike in Singapore ?
do you expect Singapore embassies overseas to educate you on each country you are visiting ?
duh ! -

they are pretty professional in comparison and making complaints to management, be it in Singapore or in ChinaRules of professionalism.
1. Never discuss pay with colleagues.
2. Never discuss pay rise with colleagues.
3. Just follow law, not... follow lor. -

Any idea how's the traffic like along the road from Botanic Gardens station to the school during term time in the morning? Thanks!
passable
need to cater for crawling traffic for vehicles turning into St Marg at Queens Road, traffic turning into King's Road for NYPS, turning into Coronation for NYPS, and then vehicle turning into Duchess Road for HCI (yr 5/6) before your turn to turn into Tan Kah Kee Drive -

KS4Son:
My DS from mainstream accepted the HCI CO via DSA (SMOPS). Today, we received a call from HCI to ask my DS to go for GEP Interview. I think it is because his PSLE result is quite good 27x. Can any HCI parent with similar past experience share what this interview is about? What would they ask?
to assess him for placement into iSpark consortium which is meant for GEP kids!
Congrats for having done well !
