slmkhoo:Thanks!busycat:My child has gotten back her results for Year 5 common test and results are disastrous (don't know the details as she has only sent me a message from school) with a \"u\" for one of her subject. Would like to know if there is a result break down by percentile for each subject.
As far as I recall, the latest report I saw (my daughter is Y6) only shows the student's percentile ranking in each subject. Looks like they don't even disclose the median anymore. I'm very sure they won't publish more details, thanks to the recent climate regarding marks. Maybe you can speak to the teachers? They may be willing to give more details verbally and in private.
But I remember hearing that Y5 grades can be quite bad for many students, and for some subjects, nearly half the students fail. I guess it's the school's way of making the students work harder? I personally don't think it's the best way, but they obviously feel that it works.

When my daughter told me that the principal has explained the situation to them and she fully understood what had happened, I was pleased that the school has treated the students as adults by explaining and sharing information with them. Hence, I can't see how one can misunderstand what the principal has told the students.Jx2mum:
I sincerely hope that parents of RGS will not divulge the information the school had shared with the students relating to the bullying case. Worse still if the comments posted are misinterpreted. Please give the school a break. It has already attracted too much unwanted attention. Let the court decide who's right and who's wrong.
Perhaps this person who had posted the misleading information can be responsible enough to delete that particular post ? Agree that it is very upsetting.
I just want to say that my daughter has been very happy in RGS for the last two years. She does not regret going to RGS. -

generally speaking: 20% of cohort >3.6-4.0
another 60% cohort is between >3.2 -3.6
looking from the median score, of course individual subject certain student very strong in sciences and math will do very well in that areas but humanities subject they may not be that strong…. of course vice-versa, some very good at humanities and not so strong in hard sciences but still can do reasonably well… student will find they own niche!
As parents, should always support the DD's interest, ultimately, she is the one taking the exams! Let DD choose her subject combi give guidance and provide inputs... :rahrah: :imcool:
Most importantly, manage expectations, don't force your DD to take subject combi (be realistic) that she is not keen :xedfingers: I can assure you, if your DD has passion in the subjects, she will easily do 3.6 or 4.0. have seen it many times, been there , done that :grphug: :celebrate: !
Thanks for your reply.
I'm asking coz my girl gets 4 for some and for below median for some. She doesn't seem to be struggling and has been happy throughout but not too sure if she is really do ok. Now that I know the average GPA, I can assume that she is coping fine and don't need to be too worried. -

Can anyone shed some light to what the average GPA is for year 2? Thanks.
