Hi Chrismas Mummy, You will receive a notice to attend the balloting and after the balloting, the school notified you via snail mail. Not call or msg.

      mummy_83:
Any latest feedback available about 'I can Read' at Rivervale mall??

I want to send my kid (2009 born) for phonics class here. Before that someone please let me know if the center is actually good or kindly suggest some other centres somewhree in sengkang/punggol area for phonics classes for 4 yrs olds.

      Thanks
I put my kids in ICR at Rivervale Mall before they were 4yrs old. To me, the teachers who taught my kids are good. I am happy with my elder kid who can read pretty well before age of 5. However, parents need to play an important role here - assist your kid to do the assigned homework diligently, patiently and consistently. I dont think you can just leave all to the ICR teachers (it is just once a week for 1.5hr). So my youngest is doing TCS now and embarking on the proven ICR program soon.

Thanks Monster Munmy. I will speak to his current teacher in ICR & the admin. Actually I want to free up his time so that he have more play time. See how things goes n give him tutiton lessons if he needs it later in P3 or so.

      Monster Mummy:
The only option is creative writing class. If not you can let him wait till P1 to go into PEP. After ICR programme, you got a choice to let him continue the writing class or withdraw him from center and look around programme to prepare him for P1.

Hi Monster Mummy, my son has benefited from ICR. He can read pretty well and do spelling with ease. Now he (K2) is in creative writing. My objectives to put him in ICR is to learn phonics & read. So all met. And when he goes to P1, I am thinking of stopping ICR, let him learn his English in school. What does PEP work on? Is this for students who are weak in English? What PEP do that Pri school don't? I am not sure if I should let him continue with PEP. Please advice or enlighten me.

    • RE: 2015 P1 Registration Exercise for 2016 In-Take

I am also surprised that there is this forum already. Agree to start early especially for parents registering their 1st child.

My DS2 born 2009 will be phase 1. My DS1 just got balloted under 2C (7Aug) in a popular school (3:1) which just 200m from our home. I wanted to PV so that there will be no need to ballot within 1km (according to past history for 2B). But school rejected my PV application stating due to overwhelming PV applications. I was very disappointed but still went to try the same school under 2C. Anyway this year P1 registration is a crazy one, even with SC priority over PR (new rule this year) balloting was still required within 1km for 2B. So think twice if you still want to PV with balloting under 2B? Do you mind to go thru balloting again in 2C if 2B failed? And so? Going thru this kind of stress is no joke. Read that some parents cried n couldn’t move on for days after they failed to ballot in.
Population inSengkang / PUNGGOL is growing very fast. So many more flats, EC n condo by 2014 / 2015. The competition will be worst than past years. This year had already evident. There are 5 new Pri schools for P1 registration this year. May be more will be built. But the popular schools will be super hot.
Always have backup plan n you won’t be so stress n lost. Just need to know the 2nd choice is a safe choice. There are parents who still not able to ballot in 2CS n worst no vacancies within their estate n need to travel out.
Sorry for all the negative views here, I am not trying to scare or agree you at this early stage. Just want to share my thoughts.
      Just be prepared!!
