Hi everyone! I was an ex-RGS girl (2012-2015), who graduated from RI in 2017. My subject combi in JC was BCME (all H2s), and H1 GP.
I have some A Level books to let go before I leave for university in Melbourne in Feb, and I hope thereβll be some takers!
Link to the catalogue of books is: https://tinyurl.com/kspchatterbox321
Do PM me if you are interested in any of the books (please give me the title/code number of the book) or have any enquiries at all. I am also really willing to take any questions regarding RGS, RI, JC in general, my subject combi, and applying to medical school.
Just quote your own price for any item youβd like. Meetups will be done at my convenience (Bartley MRT).
Thank you!

Hi! To add on to this post, I have also compiled more books to give away/sell at low prices.Hi all!

I am an ex-RI, ex-RGS alumnus who just finished A Levels in 2017. I took the subject combination of BCME + GP in JC, and triple science + geography in secondary school. I am currently giving away/selling my older books at the link
https://tinyurl.com/chatterbox321secsch
These were the books that my siblings and I bought/used, and thus would like to give away or sell at a reasonably low price to benefit others. All books are in very good, or reasonably good condition.
Meetups can be conducted to collect the books. Do message me for any enquiries, thank you! I will also be more than happy to answer any questions about subject combination/CCA/IP etc. to the best of my abilities!
I am currently waiting for my A Level results, and if any of you are keen for me to tutor you/your child please do feel free to contact me as well
I am able to tutor primary school and lower secondary.
There are both secondary school and JC books available. Please take a look at them at the following links:
Secondary School (part II): https://tinyurl.com/chatterbox321secsch2
JC (includes A Level and BMAT books): https://tinyurl.com/chatterbox321jc
Do PM me for any enquiries and if you would like to take any books, thank you!

RE: Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) [*IP]
Hi all! I was from the Class of 2015, just started JC 1 in RI. I have a lot of assessment books/reference texts for Y1-4 that I am letting go FOC because I have no one to pass to + I don't want them to go to waste.
If anyone is interested please drop me a PM and I'll send you a link to the doc that I have created with images of the books that I have, so if your daughter(s) are interested just let me know and we can arrange to meet up to pass the books. Thank you!

Hahaha we have the standard speech day cum founders day stuff, and formal Thursdays are just essentially every thursday haha! its named as such, because it's only on every Thursday that we have assembly in the hall instead of the parade square, and we have to wear a tie for assemblies on Thursday (compulsory).Thank you so much!
Are there any special events that I have to know about? I've read previous posts and there are 'formal thursdays', and I've got absolutely no idea what that is.
I'm also quite curious about the houses. What are they and how do they work? Do they affect our lessons and curriculum? Are they outside of the curriculum?
There are 5 houses in RGS, Tarbet (Red), Buckle (Green), Richardson (Blue), Waddle (Yellow), Hadley (Purple)and you are sorted into houses based on your year 1 class!
For Year 1s, you have house practice on every Wednesday for the first semester of Year 1, from 3-6pm (if I remember correctly), and yes it is compulsory! But there are no more house practices in Y2-4 sadly
They do not affect our lessons, but is part of the Raffles Programme I think!

Hey there!Hello! I'm new to this Kiasuparents site, and am still not sure whether there is an age limit or not, but here goes.
I've just finished PSLE, and have been posted to RGS.
My psle score is not enough for me to go to RGS through S1 option form, but I have a DSA CO. I was wondering whether the GEP students get grouped according to their PSLE scores.
I'm also worried about the curriculum, and other matters concerning RGS. Is it a very large leap from P6 to Sec 1?
What time does school start? What time does it end?
Is it compulsory to have a CCA? Are there selections for CCA?
For third language courses, are there a lot of vacancies? How many people take up third language? How many people don't get their first choice? How many people want to take up Japanese, and how many places are there?
I'm very very nervous, partly because I didn't go to the open house.
I've also heard that computers or electronic devices are needed, is it true?
Sorry if I'm not allowed to be on this site, and if my questions seem a little silly, but I desperately need the answers. :?:
First of all, :congrats: on getting into RGS~
Now on to your questions, I'm not really sure about whether GEP students are grouped according to their PSLE scores, but as of what I notice, it seems like it is randomised.
From P6 to Year 1, it is definitely a leap, as the number of subjects you take are doubled, so you can't expect yourself to be getting 80+ or 90+ in secondary school as often as you do in primary school. The grading system is also different, as we go by GPA in RGS.
School usually starts at 7.25am, and end at various different times. Excluding CCA this year, on mondays we end at 1.40pm, tuesdays 1.50pm, wednesdays 12.55pm for year 1s and 2pm for the rest, thursdays at 1.55pm, and fridays at 12.55pm.
Including CCA, school will usually end around 5.30pm-6pm or later depending on your CCA.
And yes, it is compulsory to have a core CCA, and you can check out the selection from the school website.
For 3rd language, I'm afraid I won't be able to answer your query about the vacancies and about how many people take up 3rd language courses. Not sure about how many people get their first choice/the popularity of Japanese as a 3rd language as well, sorry! But I think most people would be able to get their 1st choice 3rd language, do correct me if I'm wrong!
And yes, as RGS holds a 1 to 1 system, i.e. we all use MacBooks during normal lesson time, you must have a MacBook, either MacBook Air or MacBook Pro for school, and you are supposed to bring it to school everyday as well.
Hope I've been of help!

stressed mum:
RGS does not offer an O level class, but at the end of year 4, a minimum of GPA 2.0 (if I am not wrong) is required to be promoted to JC in RI.May sound weird but still worried so wanted to check what happens if the child is really not performing as per school level. I know of many IP programs school , the kids are told to move to O level track in the same school . If sec 4 result not great , does the child still make it to RI ?
TIA
I took Japanese! Spanish wasn't offered in my year
I agree it takes so much commitment to do 3rd Lang, and often it drove me crazy. But you know, there are always people busier than you and yet coping better. So it's about management and passion, some people continue to take the subject out of passion, not because of how well they do in it.
There's a lot of difference between GG and GB, until now we have yet to really come to terms with it hahaha. I'd say they are very different, regarding what they value, their mottos, their history- everything is different. And of course they do different things during sessions as well! What i do know is that GB is a Christian organisation, so they do hymns and stuff!!
Why not give it a research?
Hi May I know what are the timing for the 3rd Lang? My DD wants to take Jap so will all the girls taking Jap travel together to the lang centre? Is it the one @ newton? Tks
As of now, the timing for 3rd lang if I'm not wrong, is every Friday from 3-6pm. For Japanese and French, they are held at the Newton campus, whereas German is held at the Bishan campus. Not too sure about Spanish though!
And yes, most students will take the MOELC bus from RGS to MOELC for their 3rd Lang lessons together.
