Hi buds, my girl is at caterpillar cove. Lovely school with great teachers. Anyway to share what i decided to do. I decide to do it myself. sending them to classes is ex and not sure if it's good. I teach myself about 30mins three times a week.cheapsale:
Bud, I read your many wonderful post. Thanks for sharing and keep it up. I really marvel how you manage your kids all on your own!
Hi cheapsale, cute nick.
Thanks for your compliments. :please: Very humbled by your appreciation. Honestly, sometimes i don't actually know how i do it either. I just know that i am pretty much :faint: at the end of a busy day. But on good days/nights, here i am replying to all your posts here and all your PMs.
You all sure know by now how slow i am with PMs and frankly i may have lost touch over which i have replied to and which ones i have not.cheapsale:
The centre your child is in sounds fun! Phyllis Riccia issit?I am currently exploring montesorri curriculum. My girl is in a non-montesorri school. I have no plans to move her out. This school emphasis alot on project work, speech etc. Probably the direct opposite of what montesorri offers where it is more self based learning.
Share la. :please: Mmmmm... Montessori isn't exactly what you term as \"self-based learning\".. cos the children still need someone to teach and guide them ya? So, directresses are tasked upon this responsibility to ensure that each child can keep to the pace they are comfortable with - yes, with an individual curriculum. They still do get group work done for certain parts of the programme depending on how the individual centres cater their programme for the children.
cheapsale:
If you get a dedicated directress with a small group size to work with your child, yes, go for it. It does work! ....... but under the conditions i have mentioned above. The centre should ideally also be equipped with all the Montessori apparatus to cater for these Math and Phonics programmes that they run. However, I am thinking of puting my girl thru a 1-2 hours weekly course in montesorri as i kind of like their maths and phonic program. What are your views? will this 1-2 hours program work? I dun want to waste unnecessary $.
cheapsale:
Yes! Very different, if you compare Montessori and Letterland. Montessori Phonics is multi-sensory and should be able to cater to children with varying learning styles under the nurture of an experienced directress. Letterland is a very fun way of learning Phonics via stories and rhymes and songs using their character based letters that take on animal celebrities in Letterland. Hee..Is there a diff between montesorri phonic vs other phonic like letterland?
You can see here at this link some short sharings on Letterland Phonics.

Aiyoh, dun liddat say. There is merit in every method of teaching our young children. We also can't wish that all our children can be same-guai right? Truth is even though with more choices we can be more confused, there is something best suited for every child. Hence, i see the different methodologies more of being a spoilt for choice situation more than anything else.i need advice. Super confuse!!! how nice if there is only one program and then mummies dun need to get too worried which program to choose!!!
Every child is different, so if you can place your child in an environment where they can best maximize their learning potential, your child's learning journey may see its curve - read : accelerated... for when a child enjoys learning, that's how he will learn best.
Sorry, after reply so long... i still didn't help you decide which is better. This, only you can decide. Personally, i like both Montessori and Letterland. I am blessed to know a lil bit of both to credit the merits of both teaching styles.
Good luck. :xedfingers:
I bought the montessori toys at home. Mummies those that need I can help you get. Research alot on these toys and read up on how to teach them. email me if you need the info

RE: St James Church Kindergarten
eureka29, I may not take up the vacancy since my girl is settled and happy where she is now. Hubby worry that if we take her out, and she don’t like it…will be worst.
Also we told her about going to new school and she was insistent that there is only one sch. It dawn on us the bonding she has with the sch so…no choice! -
RE: St James Church Kindergarten
Headache! should i trsf my kid for 2014? My kid is settled now at her sch and now got vacancy at st james. Hubby did not like the idea of transfer cos we saw many of her friends transfer and did not like the new sch and ask for transfer back to realise it’s also full… Is St james really that worth it that no other school can match?
