Hi mummies

For those taking HMT in sec 1, do they still need to take normal Chinese test/exam like in primary school? Also, which is the recommended tuition centre for Secondary HMT? Thank you!
My son takes Japanese at the MOELC at Newton. I believe Malay is somewhere in the east... not in school. The boys can drop 3rd Lang if they choose to. I think the only thing to note that if it's not done by a certain date (hv to check) then the student will have to take the exam and the marks obtained wd be recorded.

HCL can also be dropped - this one at the end of the year I believe. Also I think the boys must get a minimum mark to continue studying it in the next year

Thank you! These are useful info. May I know which day is meant for 3rd language?

If I recall correctly, my son's allocated 3rd Lang day was Wed. But because it clashed with his CCA he changed it to Thursdays.
Thank you!

      Hi

Would like to seek advise, my child been offered 3rd language one of which is Malay and also HMT. Is it advisable to sign up?

Hi, same situation for me. I logged in. there is an option something like \"I would like to take up 3rd language\" vs \" I would not like to take up 3rd language\". Choose the option you one and leave the language code blank.

They will ask you to confirm your options in the next page.
Basically it is stated in that screen that you have been posted to XYZ school and you have to report on 20 Dec at 8.30 am.

      Hope this is helpful.

Thanks. My question is whether is it advisable to take up 3rd language, not on how to do submission. If take up 3rd language, can drop in subsequent level?

Hi, are there any parents here whose child is eligible for School of Science & Technology DSA 2018? I would like to know what are the questions like for the written test? SST replied me it's based on solving real life problems using STEM.

      Please enlighten me. Thanks
      Hi

There is no way to prepare for SST paper. There are 10 questions, some have sub parts with mcq and open ended questions related to real problems. After been selected, each team of 4/5 will be asked to provide a solution, further improve a solution using the materials provided. Example will be to separate good ping pong balls from the dented ones. There are 2-3 of such activities and then go for interview. They will ask a question, based on your reply they will ask further questions about it. Some will have 5-7 questions, so depending on which team you are been allocated to. Although in a team, each individual will need to give their own reply.
