yes- the sleeping bag can be wash in our machines.
pls do that. my son's bag smell bad after 1 week although i know they are sleeping in an aircondition room ( if i am not wrong)

I ended up with Bata too. Maybe it can outdo Adidas. I remember my shoes lasted me the whole year previously, unless I outgrew them.

haha, yah, those were the days whereby shoes are more lasting.
Grip is very important for shoes especially on a rainy day like today.

Anyone seen the class photo order slip.. so commercialise now..
with different poses and photo size.. haha. cost me $30 for just the photos

Parents who have kids in SKGPS, may I know how is a typical P1 student's school bag load is like? For SKGPS, do they have to bring tons of books to school?

Just curious - what type of school bags did u get for ur child? Can normal backpack (which can fit A4 size) make do?

School eases the bagload by keeping the workbooks and exercise books unless th students have homework or need the parent's signature. Only 1 exercise book for chinese spelling, 1 exercise book for English spelling, think 2 jotter book for English. Then you have textbooks, stationery including colour pencils, A4 sized plastic board for Math and whiteboard duster. Waterbottle. Storybook.

I am using Deuter Junior that weighs less than 500g when empty. Never weighed it when filled up though. Enough to hold everything. My ds not very big sized so important to me that the bag doesn't overwhelm him.

A question to parents of existing students : what shoes do your children use? I am using Adidas and each pair last me only 1 term as the soles come part though I only wipe the surface. Very costly.

i got my son a Impact bag.. also quite light.
as for the shoes.. he outgrown his pair of Nike by the first qtr . since then i have him on bata shoes. on my 2nd pair of Bata now ..
see how fast they grow up.
and now , we are approaching the last mile of their P1.

Last year, student care centre results were announced on 21 Oct.

How do parents know of the results? By phone/email/snail mail?

Any parents here have kids already in SKGPS, but couldn't get into the student care? Can I know how do you manage / what other alternative student care you enrolled your child in? I am totally clueless as to what other centres are located around this area (I live along Fernvale Link). Grandparents/in-laws support is definitely out of the question as they are working, so am I and my hubby. I will be desperate if my son can't get into the school's student care.

I recalled it was email notification last year.
There is a student care in anchorvale area . suggest you make backup plans so that you wouldnt be caught in that situation.
It will never change the fact with the booming fernvale estate that student care demand will outstrip supply by many times .

just curious - if any of the SKGP parents are active with the school parent support group . I have signed up/ done once .. thats it.
i dont get any update on the upcoming events etc.. or is there one that i had missed out?

The reason is becoz fernvale pri is within 1km from the seletar yio chu kang estates with lots of private property . Sengkang green is not within 1km

I live just beside the school. I wasnt impressed with this mgt when i was there for the school road show 2 yrs back. another thing is probably my own bias/ ( or inferior complex if you like to call that )- the school is full of rich kids as seen from the morning buzz when parents drops them off in big/fancy cars. I am sure kids will compare blah blah ..i dont want to put my son thru this nonsense.

SKGP on the other hand is more a heartland school if you look at the student mix.

I am heading down to perth in June.
had always been a law abiding driver.. was just thinking if it is worth the effort if i bring my own -- since its taxi from home to airport / picking up rental car from Perth airport.

With a 7YO and 3YO boys .. extra seats probably cost be AUD 60-80 more.

also concern the airlines might trash my seats.. thou not expensive but sim tia is really happen:)

The cost is for the entire trip, right? And not a per day cost? If it's for the entire trip, I would rather pay that amount than worry about lugging around extra stuff and having to worry if my seats will arrive in good condition. Travelling with young kids, you don't want to be bogged down with too many luggage and worries.

yup.. its a hassle so we are contemplating as well.
but some folks raised a valid point abt cleanliness of the rented seats
afterall its quite a fair bit of driving .. i wanted to make sure the kids are comfy in their seats..

Its probably lugging the seats from car - taxi - airport - checkout at Perth and collect rental.. so its quite managable in my view.
