We tried a few centres for model writing and settled on WOW because I felt the method is the best for my child to score very high mark. Their standard of model comps higher and the child is given a lot of helping words and plot. And there is a draft 2 required which I like ( some centre teachers don’t focus on this which I disagree) the downside is there is not much room of creativity like some said. So if your focus is to see mark improvement in short term and your kid has pretty good memory, their method will work best. We struggle on 30-32 /40 range with another centre and can’t see improvement despite numerous feedback to teacher so end up giving up and move on to WOW.

    • RE: All About Piano Theory Examinations

For self study on Theory grade 5 preparation, is "Discovering Music Theory" and 2 latest exam practice paper from ABRSM sufficient? These are the books I found to have answer booklet together apart from Music Theory for young musician by Ying Ying. Could anyone share if this is what their teacher or music school doing with the students? Thank you.

      Hi parents
Anyone wants let go Wang P5 higher chinese 3hrs material or 2hrs grammar and vocab lesson materials ( 2019 or 2020)

My Son wanted to stop Wang Lao shi. He told me lessons too fast for him to follow. He needs some time to think and understand for himself.
Anyone wants to let go materials, please PM me.
      Appreciate.
I would suggest you source other centre material like berries or Tien hsia which is not as hard as WLS. WLS standard is definitely pitched at much higher standard and suits kids that has very strong fundamental. These has been built up since lower primary as there is a lot of enrichment component taught beyond school syllabus. Same for busybee and Jiang which is also really hard and may not suit all kids.

    • RE: St Margaret's Primary

For parents with children in SMPS upper primary (existing and previous), could you advise what is the supplementary workbook used in p5/p6 especially for English? I am trying to gauge how hard the school ‘push’ them eventually for psle preparation as lower to mid primary seems pretty relaxed with not so difficult material assigned, quite a gap if benchmark against top school past year paper testing component.

    • RE: All About Life Without Maids

I would like to ask for advice on good home gadget that speed up and ease household chores. Price is less of an issue but product must be good. Means easy to handle( I hate bulky stuff) and give powerful results. I had researched a bit on few appliance and would like to hear feedback. I am planning to go maidless given very demanding salary in the current market

      1. Ecovacs Deebot - robot cleaner
      2. Steam mop ( Prefer those can be used for other function like glass, etc) I had read about karcher, Xiaomi and black and decker
      3. Steam garment vs iron - which one better? And which brand makes our life very easy?
      4. Dishwasher - I have shortlisted Bosch and Electrolux compact size that can stack up on top of front load washing machine
      5. What are the thing that can help to remove furniture dust easily? Can dyson vacumn cleaner do this job as well?
      6. Should we consider switch to dyson fan so the cleaning will be easy?
      7. Disposable wipes ( for table and kitchen)

    • RE: Comparing English Enrichment Programmes

Given now enrichment centre are forced to go online it is the best time to evaluate tuition centre by going trial as parents can sit beside and observe the teacher way of teaching. You would be surprised the quality of teacher can vary so much when it comes to teaching.

Am thinking of buying an air fryer. Due to limited space, am interested in one with the smallest capacity.

For those with a small air fryer, what is the recommended brand and what is your feedback using it?

      Thank you.
I would recommend ninja brand. Wait for sales and buy directly from the distributor online don’t buy from department stores too expensive. The foot print is quite small suitable for small kitchen and has sturdy built.

Hi I have passed grade 8 25 years ago but haven’t touch it for long time except helping my kid to practice piano after music lesson, is it ok if I coach my kids using books first before sending to crash course? Or it will be too hard? Which book with answer key is recommended under new syllabus?
Thanks a lot! I did not use the book as mentioned, I used the small white color booklet by abrsm.
Anyone has comment on Lina Ng, Ying or official ABRSM book by grades? Definitely need answer sheet as I need to brush up again.

    • RE: 2024 PSLE Discussions and Strategies

For parents who did psle beforehand, please advise. I am a bit concern on the syllabus, depth and schoolwork taught at school so far, and apparently some SAP school starts on more rigorous ground for lower primary after looking at their notes. Similarly the enrichment or tuition centre tends to teach more challenging stuff. If kids not going to tuition and parents only have limited time(1-2 hour per week in total) to revise own assessment given ( intermediate to advanced) for most subjects is this sufficient to prepare them? Or eventually most school will ramp up academic rigorousness by p5 so every school is equalized by then so nothing to worry? Assuming Kid is above average but not GEP material.
