My child is attending suzuki violin and i agree with the method of teaching . it is better not to read notes first . Violin is complicated enough (posture bow tone etc) so focus should be on physical aspect. When my child attempts to read the finger charts the beautiful posture goes off.
There is only one school which runs suzuki group class for 3 years, most other schools complete 9 months then break out to individual coaching . A longer group class is better as young children prefer to learn with each other

RE: All About Violin Classes and Teachers
Hi
Am 35 and looking to learn the violin. Hopefully my 3.5 yrs old will say she wants to learn to play piano or violin someday.
May I know what qualifications do U look for in violin teacher.
Seems like there are various qualifications e.g. grade 8 and 10 years teaching with fees lower at about low $200 for four lessons or someone with diploma in music and degree in arts(music) costing about $400 for four lessons and of course the sso trained. I am learning for leisure only and if my kid wants to learn someday at least I have the basics
