Vivian Lai may be an active member at SHHK for all we know. Some are sleeping members, some are active. Also, one of my friends, a SHHK member for about a year, got her child into Nan Chiau without voluntary work too… Ultimately i feel it really depends on luck…

Someone could have gone in the parents’ place in view of balloting. Maybe they were not even there as parents do not have to witness results of balloting. It ain’t compulsory. I wasn’t there during balloting… Jus called school up thereafter or wait for slow mail…

Like some of u mentioned, its time to look ahead and not dwell on the misfortune of not getting into 1st choice school.
Work on my sonny’s results and put him on waiting list! Hahahaha…

Thank you all for your encouragement. Lucky also got my hubby and friends to cheer me up. So all is not gone yet. Just hope for the best next week. Plan A fails, go with Plan B. If Plan B fails also, then Plan C, lor Six years of pri edu is a long way to go. Must make a wise choice. Though I know my 1st choice was my wise choice for my kid, the odds were extremely great. Gosh, now thinking back on why I took that road down, I am amazed myself. Nobody to blame but it's really all boils down to luck when one decided to gamble and forge ahead with balloting.


I would still hope to get my kid back to 1st choice if given a chance. Perhaps just go on waitlist and see how. If still no luck, then the higher being is telling me a no means no :sad:

Not really, imho, as they only assess based on number of awards and pupils with 275 and above.

Since all the available schs are out of 2km, you will have to find schools with bigger vacancies since you may be subjected to balloting again if there is a higher number of 1km and 1-2km applicants.

Generally, schs in AMK have more vacancies. Bishan, there is only GYPS. Toa Payoh, First TPY Pri. Everywhere would be inconvenient, so I would suggest that you go to the sch to see if you like the environment, instead of worrying about the distance.

Heard that AMK Pri not bad, discipline quite good. True or not, I don't know but you may want to just look see look see. Townsville and Jing Shan, I think the academic is improving. The others, I have no idea at all. GYPS should be ok too. If you like boys' sch, the only that is left I think is Monfort but that's even further.

You may also want to identify more than 1 sch to register because now you have to play safe.

I failed in the balloting… now I don’t know where to go as all schools are >2km away… poor child… all these stress…
