Clayman - that thread wah very fiery. Got IQ but zero EQ = difficult personality. Talking down and rubbishing other people's comments speak a lot about one's personality and upbringing. So don't be bothered by such people.

On another note, all the best to all Year 1 ACSI KSPs and their DS! :rahrah: :boogie:
      Hi Snow Crystal,

Thanks for taking the time to send me a message here. Haha...no worries. I suppose most of the KSPs can judge for themselves.

Thanks for the wishes and all the best to you and your DS too in 2012!!

      CSN:
Hi Ngbrdad, I was wondering about that too. Will ask DS check with teachers but not too sure if he will remember and will share if he comes back w info For us, though sch bus does come by this way (only about 6-7km), it is too early (6am) so DS is not taking too. It's the right time to let go and allow the boys to learn independence.

Hi Clayman, saw your frustration in the other track. Just want to encourage u that there are many other assuring parents around to share our experiences and learn from one another. Let's just continue w the spirit of encouragement and let the first day of 2012 be a good start to a year of blessings, peace, joy, and love for u and your family.

Blessed and Happy New Year to all KSP parents.
      Hi CSN,

Haha...yes it was frustrating, but I've said my piece and I'll move on. Thanks for the words of encouragement and support and looking forward to a new school year. Which class is your DS in? Will you be going for the high tea?

All the best to our DSs and a Happy New Year to you too!!

Hi phankao, you got translator? Does it work for the article?

      Hi Phankao,
Taken directly off Google Translator, so pardon the grammatical errors.

Education Ministry to revise regulations to be more open and transparent (2011-12-31)
      Peng Yuquan

PSLE distribute the dust settles, but this year it appeared to many parents and students are injured administrative error, the Ministry of Education to be open to the public an explanation.

Simply put, in the past in direct admission scheme (DSA) are under the early admission to the secondary students, is by virtue of results in the HKCEE after further the ideal school to another school made an application (appeal), the school itself can also taking appropriate circumstances and conditions. But this year the Ministry of Education has not announced to the public in advance, in that many parents and children change schools can also be made to apply in the case, stringent requirements of high school at the last moment to stop this practice, so many efforts to achieve good results and look forward to making the application children and parents stunned admiration error was deeply confused and opaque decision-making process at the expense, aroused strong criticism on the network.

Sign DSA in consent before the child's primary school had asked and was told in the examinations, the virtue of achievements of the school transfer application before signing DSA admission consent. At the same time, many parents and students understand and can apply to change schools are, and we signed the documents as well as primary in May this year to provide students with the file on DSA, DSA were not acceptable after the Ordinance shall not be marked applying for transfer. However, the Ministry of Education actually ignore all secondary schools in previous years, after examination of the \"grab a top student,\" the fact that the presence of DSA in the parents signed a consent form in late October after the ban was hastily sent to all secondary school transfer e-mail.

Past cases show, DSA change schools after the application for admission and not expressly prohibited, or even the Ministry of Education is permitted. Part of the school year, parents are told not to accept the application for transfer was very surprised, turned to ask the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education, yet the responsibility to the school, said the decision by the schools themselves, the Ministry of Education can not interfere, but private schools are not allowed to accept demands application. If you start to not accept, why some top schools also allow parents to apply and be charged 20 yuan fee? Is it blatant cheating? However, some schools, some do not accept just the extreme confusion!

In clarifying the context, we find that the Ministry of Education is the key decision-making process of hasty and irresponsible for parents and children. This relationship between the large interests of the child's future and a major shift, reasonable and mature decision-making process should be the first to obtain the consensus of all schools (in the past school independently, apparently there is no consensus on whether or not to accept applications for the Ministry of Education is not strictly prohibited), and through the mass media and schools clearly communicated to all parents and students, and then formally implemented in the next year, more appropriate.

But sad to find that such a major change in the decision, the Ministry of Education is a private email to the end of October after the school principal that counts, once implemented, parents and students all kept in the dark, the current performance of the students do well full of hope Transfer application has been made, even by an executive order issued by a piece of paper hastily frustrated. Death of a student's future education policy, even so \"the secret is not leaked,\" it was incredible.

Must be emphasized that our children attend the schools do not end prejudice. Ministry of Education to fight for an account to the public, so that students from non-transparent decision-making after the pain. An experienced, emphasizing meritocracy Ministry of Education, why would commit such a rough decision-making errors? School students and parents are confused and even in the case, change a practice for years, ignoring the interests of graduates and parents rushing their hard work? Why? Now a done deal, graduates interests to be sacrificed, and how to restore? Wrong decision-making process leading to damage the public interest, is a major problem, the Government should in-depth investigation, be held accountable.
MY Ds told me his friend chose ACS(I) through DSA.He got in but now regrets.Only when he went for the registration that he was told that there will be Bible studies half an hour every day. The fact is this kid is not a Christian and he detests it-frantically searching for another school to take him in. In this scenario-it was an honest mistake to accept CO and I think he has every right to appeal to another school on religious grounds. His fundamental rights on freedom of religion had been infringed because the school did not reveal that compulsory bible studies was part of the program. So I do agree in this situation that an appeal to transfer to another school should be granted by all means as provided for in the childs basic constitutional right.I also do understand non-Christians with very low T-scores (206)are accepted in to ACSI and some Christians with higher scores are rejected. Its obvious even to the dumb what the agenda is! So the crap of casting the first stone is just rubbish, rhetoric of the stone age to hide dubious motives. If those who have similar issues as the above Kid has a valid reason and it should be supported but not otherwise. I volunteer my services FOC on grounds of technicality as provided for in the constitution in this scenario. I am certain MOE hates seeing my face and would sort it out before I appear before them.Ha!Ha! :rotflmao:

Let me correct an untruth here.

Bible studies are not part of the curriculum. There is devotion time every morning, where the principal reads some announcements during assembly and quotes a passage from the bible. Hardly bible study if you ask me. A short prayer will be said, hardly lasting a minute. Non-christians can choose not to close their eyes and let their minds wander. :rotflmao: wow

Let's not go too far and talk about infringing on one's constitutional right. There are many non-christians in mission schools so not being comfortable and detesting (too strong a word in my opinion) may not be a valid reason here.

      :rotflmao: wow

The so called UNTRUTH above is what is termed as subliminal brainwashing techniques that are institutionalized in conversion.(METHODS)I wonder why they are banned by the Church of England?

Lets be fair to the kid that there was a mistake and he can't handle bible quotes which he has to tolerate for 6 years, its best to let him go and he can practice Buddhism /Taoism or whatever he pleases-to infringe on this is a violation..In a similar scenario if your kid is in a similar situation but it is Koran being quoted daily what is your take on this? There should not be double standards.By Constitution there should not be any religion quoted or taught in schools but the govt had been closing an eye and letting things go by because they don't want to rock the boat. I wonder when all of us take the pledge what does that mean? This is a secular country. Be grateful for MOE tolerance and don't demand what should not be there in the first place. You can check it online and read it yourself-you are an educated and a reasonable person I presume-read it with an open mind without any bias. Get Enlightened. :celebrate:Let's have this healthy discussion on if you so wish without any prejudice and taking any side. I am looking at it from purely an academic point of view.
I did not know my reply warrants you to accuse the school of subliminal brainwashing techniques. It is totally uncalled for. Mission schools have been around way before Singapore became independent, so let's not talk about the government being tolerant and be glad as such.

Being a Dr. (and I hope you are one), you are an educated person, but your replies do say that you still have a long way to go in terms of EQ. The tone of your reply is bordering on bigotry.

I will end this discussion here as this is not the place to expound each other's beliefs. I hope I did not offend you and if you feel I did, I apologise.

I'm off to enjoy my new year's eve party and wishing one and all a very Happy 2012!!
I don't really think ACSI is doing well. Their COP has dropped by a drastic 5 in one year. All my friends that wanted to go to ACSI originally now run to other schools like River Valley. Anyone knows why is that so?

ACSI COP dropped to 253 in 2010 due to Scandal with the Ex Principal ( Old Raffles Boy) but has since increased to 255 this year. Both Sons of PM Lee HL are Old Boys of ACSI and Dr. Tony T grandson starts Year 1 in 2012 in ACSI IP.

Um? U might wanna take a look at the green booklet given out.

The COP for students admitting into ACSI O Levels in 2011 is 245. Increased to 255? I think you are getting it wrong :whut:
Concernedparents was referring to the COP for IP which is 255, since you mentioned RV which is an IP school also.
