      Dad fm East:

😂 OT abit. Was having lunch with bro-in-law yesterday and he mentioned his nephew from TaoNan went to RI for DSA interview recently and met a young 'WH'. The story goes like this - Nephew and 2 boys were asked if they do read the paper. One boy from ACS say yes and told the panel he followed the Presidential Election closely. Was asked the reason and boy answered his grandfather is running for election. You know who the GF is, right! 😂

Er... who huh? So this boy is defecting from ACS to RI.

Not just to RI...also, NUSH, HCI and SST. He applied for 5 DSAs...hehe...inside source.

      Hi

Anyone can share how many GEP classes are there in ACS (P) which classes are labled as GEP and which classes are their \"TOP\" class?

      MTIA 🙂
      2 GEP classes....4H and 4I.

As for the 'TOP' class, if you are referring to the mainstream classes, that will be 4F...no G class. This class has the most High Ability students and super competitive. Most of the students in this class were expected by their parents to get into GEP but did not make it...so they have something to prove. Just my opinion

    • RE: 2009 GEP Screening And Selection

If it would help any parents deciding on the schools, just some information on the number of vacancies left at ACS Primary.

There are 19 boys from ACS Junior and 11 boys from ACS Primary who got selected. That would leave only 20 places for other boys from other schools. Based on previous years take-up pattern, all the ACS boys will opt to remain in ACS. Even if you live in the east and are keen to send your boy to ACS, it shouldn’t be a problem because there was a boy from Poi Ching in Tampines who chose ACS and was successful last year.

Hi please advise the school timings and school bus facility to CCK. will there be a school bus in case of CCA's and extra classes. My son got in to GEP. so checking which school to put in

      Hi there,

Congrats to you and your son for getting into GEP.

School timing is 7.30am to 1.30pm everyday except wednesday which ends at 1.00pm. CCAs are usually on Fridays. If your son has CCAs and the other extra classes, the 2nd bus leaves at 4.30pm.

Usually the Chinese Alive! and IRS classes end by 3.15pm, which are conducted on Mondays and Tuesdays. He would have more than 1 hour to hang around school before the bus leaves.

My son will be in GEP P5 next year. I think ACS GEP classes are the most 'relaxed' amongst the 9 centres. The boys really enjoy it and do not sense any stress from them even before the SA2 exams.

Hope to see you in ACS!

      Hi Chief Kiasu,

I actually dun see that he is naturally gifted, that is why the doubt is there.

Have spoken to him , told him the and cons, he actually wanted to try.

He is not trained to be in GEP, as we let to him to go play play, but didn't know he is selected.

The decision is that we will let him try cos he wanted it.

Being a working mother of 4 is truly no joke, esp my eldest is going for PSLE nex yr

We will monitor and see, if worst case I may quit to focus on them.

      thks for the advice.
      Hi Mulan,

My son is also the play play sort and we did not hype up any expectations at all. We took a \" if he gets in...get in lor...if not also never mind\" approach.

It was a pleasant surprise that he got in and his teachers in school also encouraged him to take it up. I had a talk with him and also told him what the expectations are. I also brought him along for the briefing so that he has a better idea of what the programme entails. In the end he decided to go for it. The good thing is that he doesn't have to uproot to another school...so that helps.

Which school do you plan to put your son in? My son is in ACS.

      Cheers
