RE: Comparing Pre-school English Reading and Phonics Enrichment
Hi any recommendations for K2 English classes? I m more looking at Grammar and simple comprehension etc rather than phonics and learning how to read.
My child is currently enrolled in K1 Learning Point English. Ever since the pandemic, physical classes has started and stopped… and recently pivoted to zoom online. Unfortunately, it is not v ideal, their lesson does not engage the child at all. (For comparison, my child is also having Berries zoom, and the Berries teacher could engage the kids really well)
I am concerned because of the stoppage of lessons due to pandemic, they told me that the current K1 phonics/reading course will only end in March next year(when the child is in K2)
I am disappointed, to say the least about Learning Point online lessons, as their fees are not cheap at all. I used to send my older children to Learning Point and it laid a good Foundation for their grammar in K2. At this current situation, I’m not so confident anymore.
Are there any recommendations for K2 English classes that cover grammar and comprehension or even writing classes? -
RE: 2021 P1 Registration Exercise for 2022 In-take
https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/vacancies-and-balloting
just to check:
MOE will only update the live number of people who registered at the end of the day is it?
Cos the number of vacancies has not moved. -
RE: 2021 P1 Registration Exercise for 2022 In-take
Hi everyone, need to ask for advice again.
I am looking at the possibility of applying for Palm View for Phase 2Cs. There’s estimated 83 vacancies for Phase2Cs.
My nephew is staying between 1-2 km from Palm View. Do you think the success chance is high?
Thanks for all advice. -

Posting on behalf of my nephew whose sg50 baby. He was unsuccessful in Phase 2C :(. We will have to look at Phase 2Cs now. Where can we obtain info of which schools still has vacancies at p2s stage?
I tried MOE website but it's still showing phase 2c details. -

RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Hi all, need some advice
I have 2 boys (p3 and N2)
I neglected p3 boy chinese when he was younger, thinking that kindergarten lessons were enough. Fast forward to today, he is struggling with his chinese;(…although he us currently having pte tuition he is still struggling with word recognition, tingxie and writing.
Recognising our mistake, we have enrolled my younger son N2 to berries and he enjoys it. he learns alot of chinese characters etc that his older brother has difficulty reading. I feel v bad when I see the older brother feeling inadequate when he sees his younger brother able to read.
he even asks me if I could enrol him to berries too.
my qn is
1. Even if I try to enrol him to p3 berries, will he be able to catch up?
2. Will berries allow a p3 boy to join a younger class?
3. Is berries suitable for v weak students?
appreciate your inputs -

RE: Secondary School History
Since the theme is change n
continuity, I guess the approach is observing what has changed/remained the same…
A simple hypothesis might be "Present street cobblers are mainly descendants of past immigrant street cobblers" (Assumption is that the immigrant street cobblers of the past passed down their trade to their descendants)
Then do interviews? Some may have relatives who taught them the trade, some not…?
From the data, check if hypothesis is true.
I’m thinking of this hypothesis because in the past, most coffeeshop owners /stall holders are Hainanese, so its q common to see the traditional coffeeshop s or even Ya Kun are Hainanese.
Are traditional street cobblers associated with any dialect groups?
