RE: Left Hander- how to correct?
I used my left hand when comes to writing and eating.. but when using knifes, scissors, computer mouse and playing racket games, I used my right hand... weird
. My parents never bother to correct me during those days.
My mum used to look after this boy who is a left hander by nature, but his parents managed to \"force change\" him into using right hand. For some reasons, my mum find this change caused some 'slowness' in his thinking.
My younger girl 3+ is also a lefty and we are letting nature taking its own course. -
RE: Competition among primary schools
I do agree that KS syndrome in parents are driven by "external forces".
With these changes and advancement in p-sch syllabus, what I’ve learnt many years ago may not be suitable for teaching now. -

RE: Competition among primary schools
Hi Parents,
Thanks for sharing your sentiments and not to forget Chief, thanks for your wise comments (enjoy reading that
).
It sadden me when I see that today children lost their \"innocent\".
They are buried under tonnes of homework and attend so many tuitions & enrichment courses.... and they put the blame on their parents for being KS.
Every child only goes through one childhood and I will want mine to have memorable one that they can share with their offsprings.
Its a learning process, we learnt to be a better parent and understand the child better as they grow, isn't it ? -
Competition among primary schools
Hi Parents,
I'm just another worried mum who is now worrying about P1 registration for my girl next year.
As quoted by ChiefKiasu, \"Students and outsiders love to lambast parents for being kiasu and creating the competitive culture in Primary school....... So who's fault is it that the Primary schools are so competitive?\"
How do we as parents, label a school being \"good\", \"average\" or \"not so good\" ?
From a parent perspectives, why do (must) we, by all means try to get our children into \"good\" school ?
Will my child \"suffer / lose out\" in terms of learning if he/she study in a \"not so good\" school ?
:?: :?: :?: :?:
If I will to co-relate a school to the corporate world, the profit of the school will be the no of top students it generated yearly. We define the principal as the \"CEO\" who implement the right management procedure plus motivation of teachers & students to get the school up the ranking level..... , right ?
How long will a principal stay with the school ? Are they rotated on regular basis ? How does MOE assign the principals... ?
Will good principals be assigned to good schools, to keep the schools in \"good\" ranking ???
Maybe i'm just being silly  , just want to vent out some of my thoughts. -
RE: [Tampines] Primary Schools
Dear mamachris,
tks for your comments... at present situation... joining alumini or clan may not be an option for us now. hv read through some posts on this.. and this does not seem to be an easy route...
moreover both husband and me are teochews...
btw, just curious, will the sch accept PV who does not stay within the area ?
tampines primary did cross my mind .. will definitely look into more details on this sch.. since they will be having a new building in coming years.

RE: [Tampines] Primary Schools
Think I'm now at a \"dead-end\"
We are staying in Sengkang and my daughters are now under my mum's care, who stayed in tampines. We will hv our girl enrol into a sch in tampines next year using mum's address. Choices of sch includes Gongshang, ChongZheng and East Spring. Looking at today's statistic, these 3 schools required balloting for <1km ... this means that we dont even stand a chance to ballot under 1-2 km category... .. .. ... :x and we strongly feel it will happen next year... .. ...
Either we get get ourselve shifted to <1km from these sch and get a guarantee chance to ballot (and with $$$ burden) ... or we just enrol into into a lesser popular sch...
really a tough decision to make ...
