    • RE: Mrs Lee Math Tuition - Discussion

I want to thank all parents in this thread. Helps me understand different tuition & enrichment centres. Grateful to have Mrs Lee's contact. Unfortunately, she has no slot for P5 next year. Have no choice but keep DS in TLL. :gloomy:

\"does your ds school invite external vendor to conduct MO training? Then you can start with that for convenience (in school premise) and students will be in the same age group.

Really depends on what's your objective and expectation.
If for interests and to gain exposure to MO type of questions, I suppose attending mixed age group class is fine.
If you're seriously gearing your ds towards winning MO competitions, I think I came across earlier posts (can't locate it now) that the top winners usually have weekly one to one coaching.\"

DS school have external vendor doing MO training & participated this year. The training materials were kept by vendor & DS only brought home after completion. The quality of coaching is low from my review of notes coz some questions DS did not have corrected answers & he can't rmbr what was taught. But most questions he managed correct anwers. Maybe DS was not paying attention at some point.

He enjoys doing MO though. Yes. I'd like to gear him towards MO. :rahrah:

So, to prepare for MO go for holiday camp is sufficient? Should I support him all the way by signing him up for regular weekly classes? If DS school does not put them up for NMOS or SMOPS, will going with NUS High (under add-venture) or Math Oasis (Penny) help my DS get the chance to compete? Math Oasis' MO I & II programme runs for 2 weeks holiday camp whilst Add-venture programme @ NUS High runs for 5-days only.

Also worry by next year, DS may have heavy load from school and will have little time to do regular training. Lots to consider. So, like to hear from experienced parents if you can share your journey & opinions to help with our consideration. :?:
      Sleepy,
Apologizes that I was writing my response very late after long day. But truly admire your talented DD.

Still wondering if I sign my boy up with either add-venture or Math Oasis, will these service providers sign him up if he makes the grade for MO competition? Trying to decide coz our pocket not so deep :nailbite: to send for both & DS' time limited & don't want to focus his time just on MO prep as its not main academic work. Like iRabbit so aptly put it as an external extra curricula as music. :scratchhead:

      Sleepy,

Your DD is super to get gold with short, last minute coaching. Congrats! :congrats:

Shes’s not from Math Oasis. She organizes MO competitions. Think they’ve ad-hoc training locations. Still trying to figure out where their classrooms are. Anyone hv any idea how to get proper Math Olympiad training for my boy to learn together with same primary level peers and not together with all.

Sleepy : I was told they are bias towards a certain boys school (assuming they’re elite & more privileged). Unfortunately, we are not elites and my boy just neighborhood roots, though he loves & does well in Math. But, certainly hope my info is wrong.

dagong99 : Truly appreciate your contact, Penny. Do you hv their number? I’d like to enquire for suitable timeslot & know their fee structure. TIA.

Hello, I'm very new here. DS is going P5 & I've not prepared him for Math Olympaid. He's enjoyed Maths & did well. Keen in exposing him to MO training & support his learning. Any advice? Is there anymore MO training @ Kebun CC? Heard MathHub hard to get in? Is it true? What about Math Oasis? :?
