Badfifi:Benefits is that your child will learn to calculate numbers mentally very quickly. The starting techniques are quite simple for kids to pick up, but as you go higher level, it takes a lot of practice to be accurate. I came across some who gave up halfway, and because they don't practise anymore, they tend to calculate wrongly, which defeats the point of initial learning. So commitment must be there.Hi,
I'm totally new to CMA, and I just realised CMA centre near me is completely full, all levels all timings!! Whoa!! Can anyone share about CMA and benefits pls? My hubs used to see that the CMA classes at SAFRA Jurong were very popular as well...

RE: 2017 PSLE Discussions and Strategies

Best not to accumulate, it may be hard for your son to clear all of them on weekends. Since those questions are already the ones he doesn't know, he will need more time to understand the concept behind each. Are you able to solve the questions and explain to him? Alternatives are through your own tutor or KSP here. I find it hard to ask school teachers as they have so many kids to attend to as well. Sometimes, we email the school teachers over the questions, usually they will get back to us.Hi mummies,
Can i know how do you all manage with maths problems for home work that the kids don't know? Its really stacking up day by day for corrections but my son have no time to ask teacher due to supplementary and cca on weekdays. Do you accumulate on weekend tutions to solve them? Does anyone have such issues, greatly appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks in advance !
Maybe you can email and ask your school teacher. If he/she realises your son has so many questions not sure, he/she may probably arrange to meet your son after school.

xn_mummy:
probably list down the topics to revise and specify the components for languages revision. For english & chinese, there's oral, compo and LC to practise.my girl's school's P6 CCA stop at term1 and P6 supp classes stop in mid term2.
though 5days can come back earlier, still have a lot of homework to clear everyday.
sometime i wondered is it really a lot of homework, or they do slowly cos after school, feel tired.
anyone can share their weekly revision schedule ? TIA
my plans
after SA1 to Prelim -> cheong and revise
from Prelim to PSLE (3 weeks) -> has to slow down, do the basic revision. -

At least these mums are trying to help their kids improve in some way or another, even at the last minute. :salute: It's still better than just sending the kids to enrichment centers. When you make time and be around for them, it will certainly give your child some boost. But remember not to over-monitor or over-nag them, then you will add even more stress.250abv:
But I heard of mum who quit their jobs so as to revise with the kids...but the kids got no time to revise with the mum...
Those mums missed the boat. Why quit when the child is in P6? These mums should have stayed at home with the children during the lower primary years to build up a firm foundation with the child. At P5 or P6 level, the poor child has piles of school homework to complete on top of supplementary classes. -
RE: Money saving
Actually it’s a good time for us to use the increases to teach and remind our kids to conserve water and electricity. The young generation have been taking a lot of everyday things for granted. On the positive side, it brings the family together to be more conscious about reducing the usage of water and electricity and even about food wastage.

RE: All About SAP Schools
Jaydazzlerz:
Im keen to enrol my boy in SAP school but they do not offer our MT and as such, can we opt for mandarin despite both me and wife non-mandarin educated? I speak a bit of Mandarin and our boy has been learning Mandarin since Pre-nursery till K2.
My kids' school is a SAP school, and there are non-Chinese kids who are taking up Mandarin as the 2nd language. But you should probably speak to your child if he wants to take up Mandarin or your own MT. It may not be an easy route, but there are others who did went through it successfully. -
RE: Nagging
Nagging doesn’t seem to have any positive effects on my kids anymore. I let them face their own consequences. Seem to learn their lessons better.

RE: Club Daiso
Hi! My kids and I like going to Daiso too! Many interesting items at good price. My kids bought their ear-plugs, sound quality is very reasonable. They also like getting the shrinking plastic to make keychains for friends’ birthdays.

RE: Pest Control recommendation
ngl2010:
We usually buy Combat Ant Killer from supermarket and the ants will be gone. Of course they will come back after a few months. You may want to try. It is definitely cheaper than pest controllerkylene:
Hi,
I would like recommendations for a pest control company. Lots of ants in my place, I cant even leave a glass of water on the table without attracting them!
Thanks
Yes, it works for me too! And I purposely put some extra sugar in it too so that the ants will venture inside it.
Just don't be alarm when you see the ant trail and don't disturb it. Must allow them to bring the poison back to their nest.
After some time, you'll see the dead ants along the trail. -
RE: Science Guide Books
Hi all!
Have you seen the Science Booster from My Pals Are Here? I think it’s quite new? It’s comprehensive, in my opinion. And they included real-life examples to explain concepts. My gal usually doesn’t liked reading Sci guide books, but it actually caught her attention to read. Just the price of the books are on the high side.
