@whywhy
e.g. Jim bought some chocolates and gave half to Ken. Ken bought some sweets and gave half to Jim. When Jim ate 12 sweets while Ken ate 18 chocolates, the ratio of Jim’s number of sweet to number of chocolate is 1: 7 while the ratio of Ken’s number of sweets to number of chocolate is 1: 4. How many sweets did Ken buy?
Let 1c be half the number of chocolates that Jim bought and 1s be half the number of sweets Ken bought.
Jim\t
Ratio of Choco:Sweets (At first)
1c : 1s\t
(At first)
1c : 1s
1c : 1s - 12
7 : 1 (In the end)
Ken
Ratio of Choco:Sweets \t
1c – 18 : 1s
4 : 1 (In the end)
Cross Multiply:
1c = 7s – 84
1c – 18 = 4s
-> 7s – 84 – 18 = 4s (Substitution)
-> 3s = 102
102/3 * 2= 68
Sorry, this is not as neat/simplistic as the real table mthod, but u get the idea.

RE: PSLE Maths 2012
@Mwf3:
110 ppl in queue. According to question,
At least 3 women between 2 men. So, arrangement: M W W W / M W W W…
110 / 4= 27 R2
There is a remainder of 2 ppl, one of them is a man, the other a woman.
so ans is 28, no argument.
XD
Also, if you go about the method that you stated, 110-28=82
82-1=81
81/3= 27
So 28 is the answer.
*No offense, but ur mistake was bcos u did not take into account the remainder -

Bet the difficulty cant be compared to my year, PSLE Maths 2009, which was an absolute killer.
@Sunbrazen:
Sry if u are offended, but…
I have a math teacher who is really humourous, he taught me n my friends a method he created called the "table method" which makes us do cross multiplication n stuff like that to solve question; it is really easy and simplistic.
I went online, found the "killer questions" of 2009. No offense, but they were really easy, all could be solved by table method. -

@ximinful:
Easy is full marks for math n 95+ for english
@verykiasumummy:
Easy will be harder to get A*; 95% may not even be enough for English...

RE: PSLE Maths 2012
So disappointed...
This year's English and Math papers have all been very easy...
