Super cold -18C, but super nice. my wife complained that the cold went thru her shoes , compounded by the fact that snow melts. But not my Doc Martens
Anyway we bought heat-packs from the supermarket in Harbin. No worries about that, as Harbin people are still humans whose core body temperature are 36C. We went there on our own, ie without tour and flew from Beijing. Can book hotel via ctrip and then when at the hotel, can ask them help arrange to rent a taxi/car with driver for a day at reasonable rates (but am sure high by local stds). There are three key places - snow & ice land (and near there Polar world - great artic creatures) for day time and the night time ice wonderland across the river. And in downtown, the original ice wonderland, that is much smaller. The exhibits were really beautiful, but I remembered the cold more fondly as we do not get it in Singapore.
