My kid is oso on Book 2. I din speak to the teacher but I asked my kid to write the words many times so that he can remb. I tried to decode but as my phonics is not up the mark…i cant help him much on this. The weekly list is long, he cant remb everything. So, if he noe how to deocde, it would be easier…[/quote]



Hmm… thought the purpose of sending the kids to ICR is to learn how to decode , read unfamiliar words and spell them too. If the kids learn spelling by memorising, it defeats the purpose of sending them there.

My dd is currently at book 2 ICR level. Every week, the kids are asked to study spelling. May I know how did you teach your kid spelling? Doesn’t the teacher at this stage teach them to decode and spell the words? I did ask her teacher previously and the advice was to write the words few times and she will progressively learn to spell the words.

Coincidentally, I’ve also withdrawn my gal. Felt that the frequent changes of teachers are too disruptive thou the teachers are friendly. Where did you put yr gal currently?

My gal is at Nursery Yew Tee Elfa CC too. Should be yr gal’s classmate. Besides changing English teachers, I noted that administration for certain matter take some time to process. Have to remind the principal for couple of times before she acts on it.
