    • RE: 2014 Request for Advice on Selecting Secondary Schools

      Dear all,

My daughter will be taking her PSLE this year and will be selecting a secondary school for Sec 1 next year. I am looking at a good secondary school with a good Normal (A) program and possibly Express (depending on how she fares in the PSLE) and I’m thinking about CHIJ St Theresa. My daughter is not so strong academically, but is generally active in her uniform group CCA.

Can anyone give some feedback regarding St Theresa - regarding the school culture, principal, discipline, CCA etc? Would you recommend for anyone to put their daughters there?

      Thanks in advance.

Wow!! Such impressive comments on Mdm Tan’s class! It is very rare that a tuition center only gets positive comments - even he popular ones.

Hi, my feedback on my recent encounter in this class.

My children were in the class for a term, but I quickly realised that this class would not suit more outspoken students. The teacher herself explained that she does not have experience handling outspoken children. (One of my child is fairly outspoken and may challenge ideas, but had never received any complaints of this from his school teachers). This tutor had offered to keep my more compliant child who happens to have better grades at school, but does not wish for the outspoken child to be in the class. Anyway, after considering, I decided to take both my sons out of this class - as I believe English lessons should have certain aspects where ideas can be exchanged.

The contents seems reasonable for the 1 term I was there. If your child already has good grades at school and most importantly fits in the box, you are likely to be welcomed there.

I guess every parents’ experience may be different, but thought I would share mine in case it may help other parents.
