• RE: 2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies

From what i read here, there are 2 calculation methods to estimate PSLE tscore using prelim marks :

      1) Add up all 4 subj prelim scores (upon 100), then multiply by 0.72-0.75

      2) If sch provides std deviation & mean, then calculate tscore & can add 5~10 points (for certain top schs)

Can parents who have kids taking psle within the last 2~3 yrs feedback which of the above was more accurate for yr child’s tscore?

 Do u mean if you put HCI as first choice and not put anything else as second d choice even if u have a CO in another school ?

Does it work the same for nygh WL ?

Yes, that was what was communicated then.

I cannot comment as I have no info for NYGH.

Aft the students submit the dsa option forms, who adminsister the final allocation of WL to CO? Is it MOE or the school itself? How will the sch know if u put 2nd choice or not?

Sorry I do not get you. How does your dd's teacher know whether the students were successful or not? Is your dd from St nics?
My dd n her friend rec the email today.

      The email is for CO/WL/Unsuccessful?

what kind of experiments were the students asked to do, at the Science camp ?

can give an example ? TIA

I don't have the exact details except that the experiments were Physics, Biology and Chemistry related.

So how do we expose our 12-Yr old to such experiments? Sch science definitely don't cover these. Are there external vendors who conduct such classes?

I was in NISH earlier, think about 40 students were there for the DSA interview.

What kind of questions were being asked?
All boys or some girls as well?

Just out of curiosity, does your DD's friend has tuition(s)? If any, how many subjects?

It is true that if the child has fantastic results, the school is more incline to believe the child can make it through via her PSLE T-Scores.

Every sch will want to 'chope' the best & most suitable students during DSA; since the top schs have abundant supply of students with fantastic results & overall portfolio, they can be more stringent.
Also, don't forget GAT results is taken into consideration.
Hi, has anyone received rejection letter from RGS? My friend's daughter has just received the letter today.

Really, is she MS or GEPer ? has she participated to the selection test or interview ?

She is MS, Academic EL. No selection test nor interview. My friend said the letter just mentioned that there were too many participants and though her daughter has commendable results and achievements, the school can't offer her a place. Sound like a stereotype reply.
The RGS letter is via email or normal post?
