      Hi naggo-nitemare,

      naggo-nitemare:
This question is for anyone who has gone through Y4 at RI. Can anybody advise if it is possible to travel for holiday right after the HMT 'O' level paper in early Nov? Or must Y4s wait till the official end of school term in mid-Nov to go for vacation?

I am also curious to know......

DS1 does not like Physics & English Literature, so he intends to take 2S 2H (Bio, Chem, Hist, Geog)

Now DS1 says if he has to do Physics, then he might as well do 3S 1H (Phy, Chem, Bio, Hist).. And he does not intend to drop 3rd Language & Computer Elective next year (I have advised him to drop one Elective, but..).. Really worried if DS1's subject combination will be too heavy for him to cope, from Year-3 onwards.. πŸ˜“
There is no such combi of geog/hist. It's either geog/lit or his/lit

Also, we are not allowed to take two electives. Guess your son has to drop either 3rd lang or cep.

in RI , the classes are 1A, 1B, etc is it? Not 101, 102?

Are the GEPers group in the same classes together? blended with 270 and above scorers mainstream?

      For Sec-1 this year...

      1A & 1B are from Sports.

      1C 1D 1E 1F 1G 1H 1I are from Mainstream (P6 Mainstreamers, I mean).

      1J 1K 1L 1M 1N 1P 1Q 1R 1T are from GEP (P6 GEPpers) and top scorers from P6 Mainstream (>265).

ALL doing the same stuff (maybe except the Sport classes?). No difference between GEPpers & Mainstreamers in RI.

Can any parents verify the above data, please? Am not 100% sure...

There isn't a class 1N so only 17 classes in total.

We also think the Gold-colored crest on the black polo t looks cool too! but it will absorb heat esp on a HOT day πŸ˜›

We were told the white polo, for Fridays, isn't available anymore. Anyone know if there's going to be new design? Or we have to get it somewhere else? Thanks!

      naggo-nitemare:

      Hi, this is naggo-nitemare's DS.

Just want to rectify some points.

      1. You can only take one 3rd language (French, German, Japanese, MSP or CSP). however, MEP and AEP are separate matters. I know of people who take both MEP and a third language. There are also people who take AEP and a third language.

      2. CSP is also offered in Year 2 and can be taken on top of a third language (according to the newsletter)

      3. According to my MSP friends, they had to go through an interview to get into RSP.

      4. (this is not in the quote) it is possible to take more than one merit CCA, even if they clash, eg. Maths club and Science club. However the student will have to negotiate with both CCa teachers-in-charge. Using the previous example, people in both Math and Science clubs go for the first half of Math club and the second half of Science club.

      That's about it.
TQVM for answering our queries πŸ˜„

      Hi justmewayne,

May I know if we take up the 3rd language, r we still allow to take another elective? any selection test/interview etc for AEP,RSP,Comp elective? TIA!

As the lessons for Electives are conducted on Tues/Thurs afternoons, your son can only select one elective due to scheduling conflicts and workload intensity.

This means that if your son wants to take an elective, he can choose only 1 subject out of the following:

French/German/Japanese/Malay Special Programme (MSP)/Chinese Special Programme (CSP)/Music Elective Programme (MEP)/Art Elective Programme (AEP)

There are no pre-requisites for AEP, but there will be a selection test that will gauge applicant's ability in drawing and creativity.

You will notice that Regional Studies Programme (RSP) and Computer Elective Programme (CEP) is not part of the list above. RSP is only offered to students taking MSP at the end of Year 1, and it is structured like an add-on programme, while CEP is only offered in Year 3 and 4.

      Tks for your prompt reply!

So, if we take up MSP, then we just apply for RSP at the end of yr 1 without selection tests/intv? if we wanna take up CEP in yr 3/4, we have to drop RSP?

Gotta double confirmed with u as we r still blur like sotong πŸ˜‚
