6 yrs later, I decided to answer my own question, as my child has been there, done that.

For anyone considering this CCC, your child is in good hands! My DS was in learning vision, near my work place but we decided to move him here when we moved to Chai Chee in 2016.

I was concerned the environment learning and care would be very drastic, but that was not the case. The teachers and caregivers at 32 Chai Chee were very nurturing, and instilled such strong values in the kids. They are very committed, and hands on, and you see them spending their extra hours (many times) crafting the kid's curriculum for the week.

Debunked all myths I heard about PAP/PCF centers. These teachers here, made me believe that that PCF centers have educators as good as those in private centers.

She didn't manage to get the offer to take higher HCL for sec 1. May I know does TKGS offer the girls higher MTL if they do well for their MTL in Sec 1 for Sec 2?

I learned over the open house, if the child scores above 70 for all subjects consistently, can appeal for sec 2 / end of sec 2. I can remember which.

Don't need to buy skirt as it is for prefects only. Pinafore will be for the rest of the students. School shoes must be 100% white (soles can be black). Discipline is very strict in TKGS. Must follow school rules.

Just for the record, \"The Schools' Internal Master WL's Ranking List\" is not verified by anyone from any secondary school, from the best of my knowledge. It is just an \"agreed\" or \"logical\" approach finalised by friendly parents here to share their experiences. Which we always needed and helpful too.

For example,

Each Domain, like netball, maths, etc, will submit the number of students they wanted to the School DSA committee at the start. Or vice versa. The school will then have an expected total number of DSA intake from there. usually 20% of total intake for sec 1.

Turning the focus to a particular domain. The teachers-in-charge (TIC) gotten the magical number of 3. They start to enlist and interview potential students, i am guessing maybe 10 or more, not important. They will CO to 3, and WL to 3-5 more. After the DSA option dateline. If 2 accepted CO, the first one from this WL list got the offer. or the TIC can also meet and decide who is the one from WL get the offer. Nothing to do with other domain CO or WL. If zero accepted the CO, 3 from the WL list will get the confirmation. Worst case scenario, all 3 COs and 3-5WLs rejected, none will go to that domain. Or the TIC can also CO to only 2 if they deem only 2 are good enough.

So the school's final number of DSA students for the year will be the allocated number at the beginning, could be less but not more. Thats also how they can limit the 20% maximum.

Either way, it does not make it the DSA system that schools adopt.

The school called me to explain how WL works. So here's my understanding.
School will submit all WL in the order of quality of students for all disciplines combined, to MOE. If anyone from that school xxx gives up their CO (regardless of discipline), the next WL in line will get the admission from school xxx (again regardless of discipline). So for example, someone from Netball gives up a CO, and next in line is a WL under chess. He/she will get the admission under chess to that school.

This will all be autogenerated by MOE at this point. So it depends on what ranking of the waitlist your child is placed at in that school. And since we all wont know, best thing is to treat it as non-existance for now and focus on PSLE.

Just don't forget WL will still be required to do the School Preference Submission between 25-29 October. Good luck to all!

I used to stay in SengKang when my #1 was in P1. We exhausted all options (car pooling/bus pool etc...).

Most bus drivers won’t commit to the route at this stage esp if you live a distant, until close to end of the year right before your kid goes to school (nerve wrecking I know!) What I did was call most of the bus vendor that goes nearest to NE, just to make an enquiry first. They will likely say no now. But call again in October/November when they have a better idea of how many kids they have confirmed. If they fall short of their quota, they will go the distance even to Hougang!

My #1 took the bus for one term before we decided to move to the east though.
