Hi Yellowbelt,Dannyho:
Hi all DHS parents,
My daughter who is in year 2 this year needs help badly in Maths. Appreciate if any of the DHS parents here can recommend any good maths tuition centre/tutor.
Thanks
Hi Danny,
My dd faced difficulty in Math until we engaged Ms Elena from Aspire Hub Education to coach her. It helped her greatly.
You may want to google Aspire Hub and call up for a free trial. They have a few branches but Ms Elena teaches in Nex and Bedok branch, not sure about other branch.
All the best to your daughter! :rahrah:
Appreciate your help. I really need all the help to get my gal maths back on track. I will check Aspire Hub bedok branch.

Dear Whitety & Zbear,I would recommend you to look for a 1-1 tutor instead of tuition centre (if you have no financial constraints).
I put my dd in Aspen but she didn't benefit from it. So I got her a private tutor instead. Her grade improved after that.
Appreciate all your suggestion & advice. I didnt send my gal for tuition since she started DHS as I thought as long as she pay attention in class, she will manage (and this is what her form teacher always tell me). Maybe I was wrong or maybe it is my gal that her results for maths deteriorated.I heard of Aspen but some of her classmates who attended there claimed they did not really benefit from them & they have all opted out of the tuition centre. Maybe I can try to register her for Aspen & will see how it goes. Meanwhile if you folks have any good math tuition tutors, would appreciate that you PM me.
Thanks & best regards -

RE: when maid wish terminate contract before 2 years up
pinkybear:
Hi All,
Please contact your agent and inform them on this matter. By right your maid should work for you for two years not two months. You need to send her back to your agent to get back your money - the balance of her loan. If you pick a new maid from this agenct, you can use the balance to off set the new maid's loan. Otherwise you can ask the agent to refund the balance. Give many reasons to get back to your money; their maid is not reliable, doesnt want to work two years, etc.Dannyho:
Hi Godiva & all,
I`m facing the same problem. My 3rd filipino helper(my 1st 2 served all their contracts) only worked for me for 2 months says she misses her family & says she feels like wanting to die if I don`t send her back asap. So most prob I have to send her home without she paying off all her outstanding loan to me. Is there any recourse to get back this loan or we have no choice but to classify it as bad debts???Some more I pay my agent $3000 for all this????
Appreciate all your advice,
Dannyho
Grateful to all of you for your useful advice. Will get back to my agent & also go through my contract again. But I doubt I can get back my $$$ as I mentioned I have aldy resigned to it (as a bad debt) but will try to pressure my agent to get me a transfer helper.

RE: Bad hunch after hiring my maid. Need suggestions please!
popireis:
Hi,Hmm, riding on this thread for some suggestions too.
My ex-maid wanna come back work for me. I am not entirely happy with the current one as well so I agree. Now, my questions are:
1. what should I do to my current maid, send her home or let her transfer?
2. What reasons should I give my current maid about terminating her service?
3. She claimed she is taking a course in town (2x/mth) and has paid for 2 terms course fees (2 terms should be 1 year). She is coming to 9 months with me. If I send her home, does it mean she will lose her course fees?
4. When should I tell her I am terminating her contract? If I am letting her transfer, can I just send her to agent the day before my maid comes and I have to then pay for her accomd/food/levy for 2 weeks?
Reason I cannot tell her too early is I worry she \"chu\" pattern when still with me, and she is taking care of my DSs while I'm working.
First time changing maids \"in between\" so abit lost... appreciate any suggestions/advices. Thanks!
I am letting go my helper end of May & if your helper is not too bad, maybe you can consider tranferring her to me.
Thanks

RE: anybody knows about direct hire??
Hi all,
Tell you abt my experience abt direct hire. I called up mom & talk with a customer service officer who assured me that I can do direct hire without going thru an agency. I have a aldy a candidate in mind & proceed to do the direct hire myself. What a joke! When I start to do all the necessary documents & started to liase with the Phillipines Embassy... I was curtly told by them that they will only deal with accredited agencies. :stupid: :stupid:
So I paid an agency a $3000 fee to get my helper. Now, after 2 months, she claimed that she missed her mother & wants to die if I don`t send her back soon. Looks like I have to fork out money to send her back asap & she havent repay me a single cent for her loan to me!!!!
Any advice from any of you would be much appreciated.
best regards,

RE: 2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Hi all fellow kiasuparents,
It has been a long & rewarding journey & I have indeed benefitted a lot from the wealth of information here & can really feel the warm encouragement from you guys here. Through the forum, we are comforted by the fact that we are not alone when we faced problems. My DD1 who had dsaed unsuccessfully for her dream school, was very disappointed but nevertheless, worked hard for her PSLE & got into her dream school on merit after reading some of the very encouraging posts here.
Thank you very much.
