Don't worry too much about the books. Your daughter will figure it out very fast and the teachers will go easy on them for the first few weeks if they forget anything.

I also found out that EL-LSP is English Language- Learning Support Programme, which is a specialised early intervention programme aimed at providing learning support to pupils who enter Primary 1 with weak English language and literacy skills (from MOE website).

My DD is also in 1Grace. She just got home from taking the school bus. Apparently the bus reached my place quicker than my car!

From what my DD said, she went for a briefing with the parents in the assembly hall, thereafter adjourning to the classroom for a snack and colouring time.

Will let you know when when she shares more.

Would like to seek your feedbacks on why eventually you chose OLGC instead of OLN (if you happen to be also straddled between these 2 IJs as choices for your daughter).

For us, OLN was our first choice simply because it was closer to our place and our next door neighbour goes to OLN (we can car pool in the morning).

We came to OLGC when OLN filled up her places during Phase 2c.

Other than that, we don't have any preferences with regards to which IJ school.

All being said, we are thrilled to be able to get a place at OLGC, and we look forward to beginning our P1 experience with our DD.

Yes, there is still an orientation day. Our DDs will be allocated a class and will be able to interact with their new classmates on that day.

My daughter also went through this short interaction with the teacher. She said they asked her to read out some of the word lists and general communication.
