RE: Punggol Primary
Hi Melody,
I feel HIPS too Cina too. I guess cos its SAP school. Punggol is double sessions, which I don't quite like. To me, I don't want to push my son too hard too fast. if u want, we can chat more over MSN. My id is [email protected] -
RE: Punggol Primary
Hi hdbtaitai8,
Thanks for the valuable info.
I am considering Punggol as my first choice over HIPS.
Do you put your kids in the Student Care centre around the school or school bus? -
RE: [Hougang] Primary Schools
I know that YCK Pri is now a soccer school affiliated to Singapore Sports School soccer program. So there might be alot of malay kids there, due to soccer.
Have to check I guess. -

July,
Punggol primary is conducting a walkaround on 9 July. Checkout their website, uhave to register to go. Can bring child there. -
RE: [Hougang] Primary Schools
Hi July,
I went to the same seminar this year, and I too am astonished at the school’s old physical condition, I mean it’s a SAP school, should have more funds you think.
I feel the same way as you when it comes to Chinese education. I rather my son be better in English, cos if your English is poor, you wont even understand the questions in Maths and Science. To me, Chinese , so long don’t pull the overall total score down.
THere will always be complains i think, about teachers and principals, so I always look at results for passed few years, if principals treat teachers well, results will never be bad. I guess the same as our workplace, the morale of the environment.
Maybe our kids could be classmates…lol -
RE: [Hougang] Primary Schools
Hi July,
You are thinking what I was thinking as well.
I don’t think its compulsory to take Higher Chinese, but I was afraid if my son dont make it to the Higher Chinese class, then he will be in the bottom half, and normally in SAP scholls, only if you make it to the best class do you get the best teachers.
Did you went to the north vista pri open house, I couldnt make it, but I was abit pissed when the school told me the open house cant bring my son along. To me, OPen house is for the children, it’s the children you should try to impress, not the parents.
I wrote to HIPS, no open house, I guess they have so many people wanting to get inside that they dont really care about impressing parents…lol
THey wont even tell me their PSLE results, for that I am quite suspicious, you are a SAP school, and you not willing to tell public your results implies something.
Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to discourage parents here to register for HIPS so my son can get a place. I just feel that it’s good to share.
My wife and I will definitely not let my son go to HIPS, so good luck balloting.
I dont want my son to be too CINA…lol… -
RE: Punggol Primary
Hi all,
My son will be in the P1 registration for next year enrolment.
I emailed to Punggol Primary, and they immediately listed down their PSLE results for past three years. I have to say I am quite impressed. I don’t know about their highest score, but for me, the individual subject and overall passing rate are more important, showed how well balanced the school is.
Their passing rate for main stream is around 98% for past two years, quite impressive, individual subjects at 93% average.
I will definitely put Punggol Primary as my first choice, cos results show the calibre of the teachers. -
RE: [Hougang] Primary Schools
Hi,
I am the father whose son is going into P1.
Although I live just next to Holy Innocent Primary, I am thinking of Punggol Primary as my first choice. Does anyone know much about Punggol Pri?
Maybe for me, HIPS is too cina, and not much activities, cos I observe them for two years, mostly academic.
However, why doesn’t HIPS publish their PSLE results , cos I asked around, and it seems no one really know.
I don’t want just the highest score, like all parents, we want the percentage of overall passing, and also each subject.
I did wrote in to the school, the admin manager say must wait for Vice Principal. -
RE: Holy Innocents' Primary
Hi, my son will be registrating for P1 this year. I am deciding between Punggol and Holy innocents primary, any parents whose kids are already in P1 in HIPS can offer some comments?
1. Does the school emphasize on Chinese more than English, cos i went inside HIPS before, and everywhere I go, I see Chinese characters on the wall.
2. I stay in the HDB block just next to HIPS, and I can see they don’t have much CCA activities, even during PE lesson, just run around the field, and the teacher just stand there and scold…sigh. Does the school just concentrate more on academic?
3. Anyone know their PSLE results for 2010?
THank you for your time.
