    • RE: * Dunman High School (DHS) - SH (JC)

What is happening to DHS nowadays!!! Intakes from PSLE score used to be just behind the Big 4 (RI, RGS, HCI, NYGH) but yet nowadays produced A-level results that are behind RI, HCI, NYJC, EJC, VJC and TJC. Seems like the A-level results have been slipping for quite a few years. Really a worrying trend…

Not sure about recent year but in prior years more than 70% attained distinctions (A1/2).
Other than helping them to skip H1 Chinese requirement in HCI, will attaining distinctions (A1/2) be useful in their future RP score? Thanks

For students who had scored A1 in Higher Chinese,

      does it help

in anyway, to improve your admission entry into universities,
      via
      the new 2026 A-level
      \"maximum 70 Rank points\" system implementation ?

      1)
      If it doesn't,
      then why bother whether
      u scored A1
      or
scored the lowest minimum D7 passing grade, in your O-level (HCL) ?

I am refering to the brand new 2026 A-level marking system.
Not refering to the current, out-dated, soon to be phased out A-level marking system, by the end of 2025.

      2)
      But,
if it does indeed help in the uni entrance admission process,
      then,
better pay attention to O-level (Higher Chinese) !
I wish to know this as well... i.e. Is the O-level HCL equal to an A-level H1 CL?
How will a A1 grade in O-level HCL be reflected in the the new 2026 A-level \"maximum 70 Rank points\" system implementation ?
In the past... someone even mentioned... that the grade for O-level HCL will be reflected as a H1 A-level CL in your A level results.... according to the following conversion:
      A1/2 - A
      B3 - B
      B4 - C
      C5 - D
      C6 - E
      D7 - S
      Is this still true?
      Thanks.

BMAT will be discountinued after this year.... better go and google the latest requirements from both NUS and NTU...
Yup... noted. It will be replaced by UCAT. Similar to my previous queries on BMAT, will it apply to UCAT as well? Thanks

For BMAT, is it advisable to attend preparation course? Any provider to recommend?

As BMAT can only be taken once a year, is it advisable to take during JC1 for experience purpose and take again the following year? Easier and less effort to redo a test then a new one… Thanks.

During the ST Nic PTC, the invited EJC principal mentioned that 20 percent of the 2022 batch achieved a perfect score.
The school's website mentions that 'Achieved >= 6 Distinctions' is 2 in 10....
So... >= 6 Distinction = 90 RP? If so.. funny why that school dun quote '90RP' which is understood by most as perfect score.

If you are looking for a \"classic\" Bangkok day trip (i.e. not just eat, shop, massage, night market etc), I can highly recommend the https://bit.ly/3X1fXav. Cost about $54 per pax (excluding the activities in the Elephant Village) which I think is quite reasonable.

      Itinerary includes:
      - Chang Puak Camp (Elephant Village)
      https://i.postimg.cc/L5Sn6Rhy/IMG-3210-photo.jpg\">

      - Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

      https://i.postimg.cc/QK9rSHxG/IMG-3423.jpg\">

      - Maeklong Railway Market
      https://i.postimg.cc/yDFswgh7/IMG-3358-photo.jpg\">

It's a great tour if you want to visit these places, and https://bit.ly/3X1fXav is much easier than arranging your own travel and ticket entry passes. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Elephant Village but the guide / camp guides did not pressure anyone into getting a ride on the elephant or make any purchases (i.e. bananas to feed the elephants). Floating market was a unique experience, as being on the boat will provide a different perspective, and the train market was very interesting.
Planning for my Jun BKK as well. Deciding between this package or the one for Maeklong + Amphawa Market. The former include Elephant camp... the later include Firefly watching... Both are from the same tour agency you have mentioned.
Looking at day tour for Ayutthaya as well as Death Railway as well.

Anyone heard about Coco Education? Seems like Mathhub is closing its Kovan and Bishan branch and some of the teachers are transferred to the Serangoo branch of Coco Education? Just wondering if anyone has real experience with them. Looking at secondary math Olympiad training…

Just to add, chinese is an important language now and in future due to rise in China, I believe all kids should take effort to master the language. MY younger DD in NYGH, there is an Ang Mo student, in GEP class, her chinese is so good that her chinese compo is listed under their annual publication of best compo selection. We chinese should strive to master the language. That Ang Mo student is the younger DD of Jim Roger, the investment guru. Her bigger DD had already progressed into HCJC year 1.
Agree about the importance of Chinese... same as what I have been telling my kids.
Jim Roger's younger DD is in class 111 or 112? Students in those 2 classes are all aiming for MSG = 1.00.
