I don't trust Agape Little Uni especially the HQ branch at one north. My kid and I had very bad experience with the management. Perhaps you would like to refer to this forum too: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=50534

Seriously, avoid Agape if you have other options.

Hi, i'm looking for childcare around this area too. Deciding between this, Lorna Whiston or LV@Fusionopolis. I'm also considering Agape Little Uni@NTU Alumni Club.

      Any feedback on the above?

For Picket Fences, are they open to public or only to members of Temasek Club?

Oh dear I beg to differ too... I find the P's smile is kind of fake and it's hard to reach her too! I had very bad experience with one north agape. They took weeks or even months to do the follow-up on parents' feedback. I spoke to some parents and found out that I was not the only parent facing the same problem with this centre. There was once I asked for the status of my feedback and why the school took so long to do the follow-up. Guess what, the VP replied me that she forgot to follow up on my case (dare to tell me that she forgot). YES the centre used to have caring and good teacher but most of them have left. The handover was bad... I would advise all parents to avoid this centre by all means! Oh I recently heard from some parents with younger kids that the centre is merging classes for lower level kids too. Due to high turnover rate of teachers, the centre is facing problem in hiring. Yes, I agree that the class merging is good for P1 preparation but there's no need to do it for whole year. 2 to 3 months is long enough to prepare the kids for P1 environment. It's worse if they are applying the same approach for lower level kids. Do more research as there are better schools out there! Based on the school fee that this school is charging... seriously... find a better school out there!

Smiles are expressions that one made anyway, so is fake to begin with, anyway. When I smiled at people, also fake mah, it's just like a form of showing courtesy. My personal view is that if it's easy to reach P, probably the P is not doing his/her work then. 😂 I'm working in educational sector, Ps are mostly out for meetings, etc. If they sit in office everyday, think I would start wondering how come the P is so free, nothing to do?

For merging of the K2 class, it was only done in May, & for actual study, it's only from Jul-Oct, so 4 months isn't that a lot, considering that the children spent time to prepare for graduation performance. Jun is school holiday period, so most kids wld excuse fr CC to go holidays. Nov is graduation ceremony, farewall party, etc cos some parents wld stop sending to CC in Dec. Personal take, 2-3 months isn't enough to prepare kids for P1 environment. Some CCs scale aren't even big enough to have kids close to a P1 class size, probably just half of it.

It goes by students teachers ratio. In some CCs, the kids aren't even separated into smaller rooms, all study, sleep in the same room, 1 level just 1 class only. For people's info, when my girl promotes from infant care to smart toddler (commonly known as PG), the P specially opened up STC in Oct last yr for her age grp instead of placing her in STA & STB as children from these 2 classes wld be promoted to N1 this yr while my girl's age remains in ST, this is arranged so that kids face lesser transition, like change of rm, classmates, teachers, etc. Many CCs out there do not open up a separate class just for kids who turned 18mo, not even very expensive MC! Yes, there's better CCs out there, like teachers wld watsapp pic of their children in CC to the parents, but you pay for what you get, the fees for such CCs is easily doubled of what I'm paying & is increasing yearly. Other CC whereby parents paid more than doubled of what I'm paying but don't even get the care that my kids had in Agape. I would not name the CCs but my friends' kids are in these CCs, so it's really based on comparison of my kids & their kids experiencing, not something plucked out from nowhere.

Seriously, if the CC is so bad, no one in the right mind would put their babies in their infant care & their IFC is not as though they only have a few miserable babies. Babies are the most vulnerable ones as they can't talk, move about freely, & if it's really that bad, think the IFC arm would close down first.

Was interested to enrol my girl for K2 but have a change of mind after listening to her experience. Send her to Creative land and so far there is no negative feedback from her. Still early to access

OMG did the parents reported the case to gov agency? Now that I am reading this forum... I have just found that there are so many bad cases and I am not the only one having bad experience with this school. There will be more schools like Agape if parents choose to let go or close one eyes.

My neighbour has withdraw her kid from agape and enrolled in another childcare at Lot One . So far there is no negative feedback from her. Many good teachers from Agape are leaving

You can make a complaint to ECDA
[/quote]Indeed... many good teachers have left... I heard that the management style has changed a lot.

      bbhng:
Hi, it is our belief as parents that our child has a right to a respectful environment that we would like to pen down our recent encounter.

i would like to feedback our recent experience with Agape Little uni @Central (located at Midview city). Our 3 year old son was first enrolled to this new childcare center 6 months ago (from last Sept 2011 until Feb 2012). We've been making mthly cash payment for school fees of $580/- from Sept 11 - Feb 12 upon registration with the school but we proceed to submit GIRO application in Dec 2011.
We've not been informed if the GIRO application has been approved despite our repeated phonecall to the school center and my wife's last phone call to the center is dated 31 Jan 2012 and Ms Shanti, school principal, informed us it is not approved yet. So we continue to make cash payment until Feb 2012.

However, last Sat 18/2, i checked my child's January 2012 CDA account statement and discovered an incorrect S$2140 withdrawal transactions (namely 17 Jan- $1160 and 31st Jan- $980) from CDA account - monthly school fees deduction should be S580/nett . i was very angry and we confronted the school directors that same Sat 18/2 and they admitted to us there is apparent issue with ex-principal Ms. Shanti's management of their school finances and the school management has already asked her to leave and her last working day with Agape little uni is dated 10 Feb 2012.
Though we've received refunded amount of S$2140/- from the school director after we confronted the school management but we’ve informed the school of our decision to withdraw our son, Ryan from the school.

It is with the same belief that every child has a right to a respectful environment and to undergo the tedious process of starting in another new childcare environment soon. At the same time, we’re also unsure if our child is benefiting from Agape little uni ‘s school syllabus.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------
Our queries/issues with the school on 18/2 Sat meeting are as follows:
      1) Why are there 2 GIRO deductions made to our child’s CDA account on Jan 2011 statement even though we’ve already made cash payment of monthly fee of $580/- until month of Feb 2012?

      2) Why we as parents are not being informed about the GIRO approval by the school despite our repeated phone call check with the school principal Ms. Shanti and the last phone call made for GIRO approval checks by my wife to the school is dated 31 Jan 2012 and the ex-principal Ms. Shanti confirms this during our 18-Feb 2012 Sat discussion. Also prior to meeting in the school on 18 Feb afternoon, I called up OCBC Bank @noon time to confirm the GIRO approval will only be sent to the school only, not to the parent/child of CDA account and I was very angry about this whole thing and requested to CANCEL the GIRO application for school fees with immediate effect.

      3) These 2 GIRO withdrawals made does not look like a ‘mistake’ as from below analysis these seems to be some suspected form of ‘cheating’ or plot to embezzle school fees from parents by the school principal. If this is by anyway of any mistake, then the correct amount of $580/ nett should be deducted instead. (1st GIRO withdrawal-> $1160 could be $580 x2mth= $1160 and $980 -> initial deposit)

      4) Why didn’t the school management contact us earlier about the incorrect GIRO deduction and we, as parent, need to flag out the error and be proactive in confronting/reporting this GIRO deduction issue to the school to get a REFUND? Question here is: What if we did not challenge the GIRO deduction and the school’s negligence over this matter. So will this be seen by the school as ‘normal’? Does the school not have a correct procedure or book keeping for managing the center operation?
      ---------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, the assigned school principal should focus on school curriculum, teacher’s lesson delivery and child’s growth development rather than managing school fees, finance related. The school director or authorized personnel should assume this responsibility from our view.

i hope anyone reading our recent experience will draw useful lesson from it.

** Note: i may proceed to make police report or to report this case to MCYS for the accounting/withdrawal discrepancies to our child's CDA account and seek further investigation/explanation from the related ministry.

      Your sincerely,
Hi there, may I know if you reported your case to the Gov agency? If yes, was there any action taken by the Gov agency? Agape is no longer as good as before. I am very disappointed with the management. The management is very irresponsible and I am worried how this education provider is going to teach our next generation. Can I PM you for further sharing?

My #1 has been with Agape at NTU Alumni since he was abt 2yo, & the experience has been good, that's why I've also put my girl in infant care since last year.

Although teachers turnover is a bit high & P also changed a few during these 4yrs, the transition was quite ok. All the Ps listen to parents' feedback & wld try to improve the quality of their cc, not just in terms of curriculum, but also constantly upgrading their centre, at least so far all the feedback I gave was followed up & improvements made. Some of the teachers turnover is actually they had gone over to the newer branches, not that they had left Agape, so the teachers quality is ok that they can go over to assume higher responsibilities.

In terms of curriculum, at least you can assure that they hv minimally followed MOE's framework as they are SPARK certified. The current P is very hands on, whom I often see helping out in the infant area during peak hrs, which usually is not full staff strength reported for work yet, so can at least see that the P is a loving person towards little children.

They also merged the 2 K2 classes to prepare my son for P1 as it's important that the kids learn to cope with a bigger class size, so to parents who think small class ratio is gd, do think if it's gd in long term when your child needs to go pri sch whereby the ratio is a lot bigger with only 1 teacher. The cc also brought the K2 kids to a pri sch to experience pri sch life & even buy their own food at the pri sch canteen. I understand fr the cc that they wld start to intro concepts abt money handling & other aspects to prepare them for P1.

Recently, the cc was also selected to participate in a prog organised by ECDA & HPB to learn abt healthy lifestyle & balanced diet, although parents need to pay additional fees for this prog, it definitely worths the value for the activities involved. My son came back telling us that this or that is junk food, becoming more health conscious, which helps us to tell him why we need to restrict his intake of things like sweet, chips, soft drink, fries, etc.

As regards to my girl who will be going to PG soon, which they now called it Smart Toddlers, the P told us that they will likely open new ST class for current grp going to be 18mths soon as she doesn't want the children to be put through the changes come next year when current ST classes would be promoted to N1 next year so that the little ones do not experience change of teachers, friends & classroom.

Also, 1 thing that the cc impresses me is that how do they have so much manpower to activate to bring all the children safely to mtg pt when the bldg has fire drills, as even infants also participated in the drills & their drills are so frequent that I think my children did more drills than my entire life. I'm not sure if other brands of cc participate in the bldg fire drills.

Programmes for the different branches vary across them, for this branch, they have arts, music, letterland, outdoor play, gymn, water play besides the main English, Chinese, Maths lessons, not all branches have the luxury of water play in the default programme. The additional I paid for my son is English speech & drama.

These are just some plus pts that I share, so parents who are sourcing around for cc, do look at more choices instead of those popular branded ones.

I beg to differ, the teachers at one north are always having black face and they are so busy with so many kids that I think the children are not getting the best attention they need. I have also heard children talking loudly especially the boys and teachers having a shouting match with them.

Also beware that the principal is quite uncontactable if you need to find her and the management is not receptive to feedback. The school also has a very high population of expat children and china kids. Hence, it looks like an international school. As there is no lack of foreign kid enrollment, the school tend to be quite arrogant and can tell the parents off to go elsewhere if not happy with the school. So please think twice if this is the kind of educators you want to choose for your kid
