Yes, I believe in open and closed door! PL door is now closed, utter rejection, not even in the queue for back-up offer in case other parents reject. Whereas mainstream school door is open wide. I don't even need to re-register him this year as MOE and school confirmed we already got a place from last year's registration. So we are going through this open door. Like what my colleague encouraged me, now is the time to look ahead, to prepare boy for the school next year. Step out in faith!

Like you, my boy didn't get an offer by pathlight....Really sad... But like my hubby said, he is still my lovely smart boy, no matter what.
Next yr he will therefore join my daughter's mainstream school. Will your boy go to mainstream school? I'm expecting lots of liaison with the school now... Really hard... But still hv to move on. You take care too.

Yes, we too were dismayed and sad for a while. Could not help but teared when we first heard the news and spoke to the school. One suggestion was that we can appeal to the school to reconsider or even to appeal to the MP to get into the school. But actually the irony is that we applied to PL because we were sick of the mainstream school rejection. Now even PL reject, so am not going to appeal. Next year my boy will go to a mainstream primary school. Let him try. Because he already deferred one year and approaching 7 yo, can see he is more stable already. Even his kindergarten teacher, principal and school bus driver said that my boy now listens well and more stable!

Take heart, our boys have a lot of strengths going for them too! If they don't take well to mainstream primary school, the next alternative would be to home-school them. Although I can't imagine how this can be done right now and hope we don't need to take this route, we have to keep an open mind.

Our boy's IQ is normal and he is relatively healthy so for that we really give all thanks and praise to God!

Mine too..There is no reservation of seats when I chk with the school that time. But I'm really relieved that I defer him albeit the bad experience at his kindy.


Not only is my son more prepared though still not on par with normal kids but the great plus point is there is a new brand sch for him. I dun hv to worry abt the big clusters of students, bullying fr the seniors, teachers having no time for him since there r so many other students to look after and academic focus since no psle benchmark to sustain. Teachers and friends hv really been fantastic thus far and not so academically inclined. It's indeed a blessing in disguise.

Glad to hear that your boy is doing well in his new primary school! Yes, I can understand how you feel. Me too, if there is a brand new school near our place I would have much preferred to register there. For all the advantages that you have listed!

Yes, that was what we were told last year as well. But this year we received another letter to contact the school directly and also confirm we already have a place in the school from last year's exercise but we deferred by one year to go in. Am still waiting for the letter from the school though which will be given after the whole P1 registration exercise is over. Actually it makes sense because we also applied to Pathlight for my boy so if he had an offer, we may not go into mainstream primary school so imagine if we had to go through P1 registration again, it would just clog up their process this year.

After a year of deferment, boy going to P1 next year liow. Kerna called by MOE already and we have to submit which primary school my boy will be going to.


Good thing is that actually there is no need for us to register during this year’s primary school registration exercise because apparently the school told us my boy already has a place at the school to start in 2015 from last year’s registration!

So from now till year-end, we will have to get ready. Will need to go talk to the AED teacher again and to request to bring my boy to visit the school a few times before actual school start etc.

I can only say this time last year, I truly did not have any energy left to do all this prep. work nor have the confidence that my boy can make it hence the deferment. This year, it is much better and my boy is more ready ie. more stable and grown up.

Will it actually work? Who knows? But then all kids also got to go to primary school. Like what my mother said, all kids "no matter how stupid" also got to go to school (she was against our deferment last year).

Hello all! Such a luxury to logon to KSP and post some sweet nothings…!

Thought to let you know that after agonising for so long and tons of money to get the paperwork done, my boy did not clear the Pathlight assessment.

On the day of the assessment, the minute he reached the classroom with about 6 kids there with him, he cried and scream "don’t want"! Can hear him all the way down at the canteen. Din stop for at least half-an-hour. At the end he calmed down and was one of the first to be returned to the auditorium where the parents were waiting.

So at the end of the day, we don’t have much choice at all. Indeed those kids who managed to get an offer from Pathlight School are really blessed. Because it means they are in a safe environment with maximum support and small class size. Not least because they have cleared the stringent assessment by the PL committee and deemed to be suitable for mainstream education.

For those kids who did not get an offer from Pathlight (like my kid), well, we just have to move on and no looking back. Just like we did not take "no" for an answer in the past, be it from the kindergarten/principals/teachers/PD etc., likewise this "set back" will not get us down.

My boy has come through a long way and he will continue to make it.

Just sent back my MIL’s maid to agent after 4 months. MIL cannot tahan already due to communication failure/lack of respect etc. plus maid told her a few times she wants to go home. On the morning we went to help her to inform the maid. We told her you want to go you can go. Maid took it really well I must say! She nod her head and went to her room to pack everything. Paid her month’s salary and said bye bye to her, all the best. Took her to the agent, no yelling and screaming just signed the relevant forms, check her money and handphone that’s it. We were quite worried what would be her reaction but turned out nothing much. No drama. Now she at agent waiting for new employer. We are also looking for new maid.

Only one in four renounced? Not bad liao lah!

Believe it or not, yesterday I prayed for the first time for the future girl in my boy's life. That in time to come, he will meet a great help-mate who will really love him for who he is and his lovely and kind soul. So that she will take care of him when I am gone. How is it possible when we are all in such a realistic (materialistic) world I don't know. That's why got to start praying now!
