RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Primary)
Hi Mommy2010
If you have no affiliation with the school, the only option you can do is to be a parent volunteer with the school at least a year plus before the registration year, meaning the year your son is in K1 you should start. You will need to clock in 40 hours of volunteer work. This will then make you eligible for Phase 2B, but not a confirmed place.
If not, then you will be under Phase 2C, which is open to the general public. For ACS(P), by 2C, it is usually quite a slim chance. There have been cases of parents registering under Phase 2B being told to try at ACS(J) instead.
If your son is unlucky to not get a place in 2B, you can still register under 2C. It is only if under 2C that you do not get a place, then MOE will just place your son in any available school.
Hope this helps...you may wish to check out MOE's site on Primary One Registration...
All the best!

Hello Parents,
My darling son is 3 years old (Singaporean) and we are planning to buy a property around ACS (P) or ACS(J). I am curious to know about the admission criteria to get into any one of the above mentioned school. We are not christian, community leader or ex student of ACS.
I also would like to know that if he doesnt get the admission there then what is the next step?
i am very new to singapore education system so i may ask some silly questions . My sincere apologies!
your guidance will help me alot to decide the better school.
thanks, -

Hi, Dexxy.
Cheers!!!! Our boys will classmates......!
As for the teachers' query, i'm just wondering if the teachers will be the same as of this year 1B. Happen to see the 2012 classlist imfo on the school website.
Anyway, I've checked with Admin Manager and was told that the teachers will be rotated every year.[/quote]
Yup, their teachers are Tan and Huang...they seem pretty nice
I'll PM you rgding your son's name:) -

RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Primary)
Actually, other than the principal being a little long-winded, I was pleased he had a sense of humour and seemed approachable and humble. For primary schools, it is impt that the principal seems approachable as the boys are still young...discipline is one thing, but we don't want the boys being too fearful of the principal...anyhow, to each his own...but i think the activities planned for the boys during the orientation were too boring/mild. My son said all they did was watch a movie and draw, other than a short tour ard campus.
I do commend the PSG members...very helpful and friendly, and not at all too pushy! :boogie: -

Just wondering…anyone knows what ACS(P) sports/CCA accolades are?

RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Primary)
:thankyou: for the replies!
Can't wait! Already ordered his uniforms and he is so excited with his new school bag, pencil case, shoes etc... And I was pleased to find out that the school is using the MC Shaping Maths series...not that My Pals isn't good, but Shaping Maths is more advanced
Also, my DS is singing the ACS anthem ard the house already!! His grand-dad sure is enthusiastic, egg-ing him on to sing along...hahaha...
Thanks for the reply on the exercise books. Will just get the ACS ones first, and see how it goes in the future. After all I'm sure there will be a mad rush to buy the books and all on that day!
btw, anyone knows what ACS(P) sports/CCA accolades are? -

:goodpost:Hi, Actually you do not have to worry which is the better ACS. This is because both are affilated to ACS independant. So if your son gets into ACS junior or ACS primary he will stand equal chance to get into ACS independant and ACS Barker.
You can compare the PSLE results of both ACS primary and junior to decide which is better academically. But do take note that ACS primary offers the GEP programme as such their good results include a handful of Singapore's top cohort. On the contrary, ACS junior has only mainstream students (no GEP programme). This means that ACS primary may be better as the results includes the GEP students. Discounting the results of the GEP students, their results could be on par. (I think)
If you are looking at a particular sports, you can surf the school's webpage.
For comparison other than quantitative acheivement like academic and sports, you will have to speak to students/parents from the 2 schools.
But you have a good problem to begin with...cause both are great Christian schools.
Thank you...your response was most helpful
Looking fwd for my boy entering ACS, be it J or P...already teaching him the anthem

RE: Anglo Chinese Family of Schools
Hi, just asking for some opinions: my dad and bro and uncles are all from ACS(J) and my hubs is from ACS(P). I have grown up with the ACS Junior in my life…but now deciding for my son I am confused as to whether Pri or Jnr would be a better choice…aside from the Phases of entry, can anyone throw some light on the + and - of each school?
Much appreciated!!
