      We recommend HSBC for house loans. The terms are clearly presented to us, requirements are quite easy to comply, our house loan was approved on an earlier date.
      yea i recently refinanced my house loan with HSBC. the rates may not be the best but i like the professionalism

      noticed languages are the hardest. i always got the feeling that languages are easy to pass but difficult to get an A. heard rumours from many years ago that NUS take priority over GP and higher MT to admission into medicine, accountancy etc…

      Hi all,

      just to check if the student do not study phyics in sec 3 onwards, are they allowed to take phyics in JC ?

      If can, would it be very tough since they lack the phyics knowledge since they did not study in the upper sec ?

      Also, with no phyics in JC, can the student take any engineering course in Uni ?

      Thanks.

      Here is a list of various Junior Colleges A-level subject combination requirements.

      For Pure Physics -
      If you have never taken O-level Physics before, nor its equivalent in the IP Year (3 and 4) program, students are Not allowed to take H2 Physics in JC, as they lack the foundation needed

      The same, apply to Pure Bio

      However, for O-level students who had taken Combined Science (Physics) and have scored an A1, some JCs allow

      can check, each JC requirements

      that subreddit has quite a lot of good info. didn't know about it. thanks for sharing!

    • RE: The Stressed Parents

      i tend to zone out and forget about reality with old school sci-fi movies like blade runner, alien 1 etc. don’t know why i like that gritty feel and alternate possibility thing that give me some escapism. weirdly, everyone at home thinks i’m crazy to be watching the same movies over and over again

      In case some rich parents with highly intelligent/talented boys are impressed, encouraged and wow'ed by Pamela's personal experience, please pause & look at this:

      Punishment for NS Dodgers

      For those who evade NS for 2 to 6 years, the starting point is 2 to 4 months in jail;

      For 7 to 10 years = 5 to 8 months in jail;

      For 11 to 16 years = 14 to 22 months in jail;

      For 17 to 23 years or more, the default jail term kicks off from 2 years to the maximum of 3 years in jail
      .

      Once you embark on this unconventional path, it's likely you won't be coming back to your home country to serve NS liao.
      the rich and powerful buy citizenships too :?

    • RE: Talking about Death ...

      zac's mum:
      This is my English translation of that article (with major help from Google Translate):

      Talking About Life and Death

      Xin Ming Daily Paper, 24 July 2018

      How old should a child be when exposed to the subject of death? If a loved one dies, should the family tell the child \"he died\" or \"he is asleep\"? Xinming Daily asked the chairman of the Taiwan Life and Death Care Promotion Association, Guo Huijuan, who is also a lecturer at many universities.

      Guo Huijuan: I teach life and death at the university. The first lesson, the school will ask the students to write: \"How old was I the first time I thought of death?\", \"What happened at that time?\", \"That experience about life and death, what impact did it have on my views about death?\"

      I found that the vast majority of students think of death for the first time, in elementary school, followed by kindergarten, middle school or high school.

      Most of the children said that they rarely have the opportunity to talk to their families about feelings because they have no chance, and they know that parents and elders don't like talking about death. Death has always been a taboo and unpleasant topic.

      Precisely because death education is avoided and neglected, the vast majority of people in society do not know how to give appropriate care when their loved ones die. After the death of their loved ones, they don’t know how to help their families with the funeral, and they don’t know how to get through the funeral and their sorrow. Most dying people can't get the warmest and most complete blessings and a proper parting from their loved ones before they die.

      Death education is not just about facing death. Facing death is only the first step. Only when you are willing to face it can you start the follow-up education and care knowledge. This is the purpose and significance of the \"Death Cafe\" campaign.

      I agree that children's death education should be direct, honest, and not avoided. Parents or teachers can clearly explain to the child that \"death means the person is never coming back, no matter how much pain/sorrow we feel, we can't change this.\" Letting the children learn to \"face and bear\" reality is a positive direction to take.

      But parents and teachers should take time with their children to commemorate the departed in various ways. Perhaps they can arrange a special time to bring everyone together and recall the past, so that children can learn to forget, yet collect treasured memories in the process.

      In addition, in the process of education, the school and the family will keep in touch and communicate to ensure that the child's emotions are treated with special and timely care. Parents can grieve with their children and tell their children that death is an inevitable thing. Sorrow is a normal emotion to show, but there are more things in life. We must be grateful and cherish, and then move on.
      :thankyou: was really a good read

      thought of getting a queen quilt...but didn't expect it to be so ex...it's in the $200 over range.

      my present one is from friven. so sad it's no longer in the market. the quality of bedsheets are so good.

      You wanna try taobao's cocoon silk quilt? I ever bought for my kids 3.5 kg weight when they went to UK to save a bomb (cocoon silk quilt sold in 'weight', the heavier the higher the price. For Spore weather, 3-4斤 (about 1.5 to 2 kg) is enough.

      The summer quilt is cooling yet warm enough for air-con room (I bought for my nieces and nephews). For about SGD60, maybe worth a try (get from reputable store only else may end up with fake products).

      Taobao must use EZbuy still? I wanna boycott EZbuy.... any other alternatives?

      GSS these days are only for tourists. Sadly. I heard from most retailers that.

      Both my FIL and my own father opted for “sea burial” aka scattering their ashes into the sea near the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Former’s reason was he used to be a seaman. Latter’s reason was he didn’t want a niche and for us to have to maintain it. We still try to visit the Changi Village area yearly to pay our respects. Miss them dearly...going to the physical place is merely a formality. They are constantly in our thoughts as we see our son and his cousins grow up without their grandfathers 😢

      just curious, do we need any permits from the Town Council to scatter the ashes this way? I'm considering doing sea burial for mine. seriously.
